Midcoast Music Academy

Midcoast Music Academy A Community Music School We also offer a number of workshops, labs, and ensembles, as well as music enrichment programs for area schools and businesses.

MCMA is more than a music school; it is a community that encourages people young and old to find and embrace who they are by learning an instrument, developing their own voice on that instrument, and then sharing their voice through performance. We combine a classical music education with a contemporary approach to provide high quality music instruction to students of all ages and skill levels in

a fun, relaxed, and creative environment. Our dedicated faculty provide outstanding instruction and creative mentoring to our students, building confidence and helping students feel connected to the whole MCMA community. Midcoast Music Academy offers both private and group instruction for ages 5 & up on a wide variety of instruments, including acoustic and electric guitar, drums, world percussion, hand percussion, bass guitar, double bass, piano, flute, saxophone, clarinet, trumpet, voice, violin, viola, and ukulele. A few examples include teen a cappella, teen jazz, hand drumming, adult bluegrass band, teen contemporary ensemble, and kids pop group. We are committed to helping students of all ages and skill levels unlock their creative potential and express themselves through music. Check out our website for more information, or give us a call to find the perfect fit for you or your child.

Meet our June Student of the Month! Katie Urey began studying guitar at MCMA in January with Zack Bence, who had this to say about his student:
"Katie is completing her first semester on guitar here at MCMA, but in that short time has exemplified a number of traits essential to progressing on an instrument. Chief among these traits are her great attitude and willingness to invest the time and effort it takes outside of our lessons.

Nothing makes a teacher happier than seeing a student achieve gains due to persistent practice. Katie really embodies the idea that progress is proportional to the energy you invest. It’s been truly awesome to watch her confidently play chords that may have seemed nearly unattainable when she first started.

Katie is currently working on rhythm and strum patterns with the Green Day song ‘Good Riddance’ and is absolutely crushing it!"

STUDIO SNAPSHOT: Amory and his student Heath worked on restringing and setting up a guitar. Learning guitar isn’t just about chords and songs, it’s also about learning how to care for your instrument. Restringing and basic setup skills help students sound better and build confidence.

The Summer session is a wonderful time to try something new! Classes start the week of June 29th. Perhaps you'd like to try out one of our ensembles?

Ensembles provide opportunities for students of all ages to jam, improvise, and learn collectively. In these 60-minute classes, students study different instruments to create a band experience over the course of the semester. A list of our summer ensembles can be found here:
