I can't believe it but as judge and president of the watershed association, I'm calling ICE OUT on Washington Pond at 1705 today....there are a few ice cakes floating around here and there but they will be gone tomorrow....this has to be the earliest I know of....

Washington Lakes &Watershed Association invites you to our Annual Meeting with a presentation By Ruskin Hartley of The International Dark-Sky Project on August 12, 2023 at 6:00 PM at
Medomak Family Camp at 178 Liberty road in Washington.

Ruskin Hartley has presented internationally on the need to reduce light pollution and how doing so benefits our health as well as increased benefits to the environment.

The meeting will begin with a meet and greet, followed by a
presentation of results of the 2023 Annual WLWA Photo
Contest. Mr. Hartley’s presentation will follow.

5-6 pm Photo Contest Exhibit --Vote for your favorite photos
6-7 pm Keynote: “Our Loons & Our Lakes” presentation by
Maine Lakes Executive Director, Susan Gallo

Susan will bring us news of recent projects to count Maine’s loons and increase
their productivity by floating loon rafts and engaging volunteers in other loon
protection efforts. She’ll also share information about Maine Lakes “LakeSmart”
program, an update on how Washington Pond is doing, and some easy things
that lakeshore owners and lake visitors can do to protect water quality, wildlife
habitat, and recreational opportunities for everyone.
7:15-7:45 pm Annual Business Meeting ~ all are welcome
