šŸ“šāœØCheck Out These Banned Books & Fight CensorshipāœØšŸ“š

These powerful stories- All Boys Arenā€™t Blue by George M. Johnson, Gender Q***r by Maia Kebab, and the Heartstopper series by Alice Oseman- are more than just books. Theyā€™re voices, experience and windows into lives often targeted by censorship.

Why are they banned?
Because they share truths. Because they celebrate love, identity and authenticity. Because they give hope to people who need it most.

Why should you read them?
Because stories like these foster empathy, understanding and connection. Because every person deserves to see themselves in the pages of a book. Because censorship hurts everyone.

Check out these books.
Support these authors.
Fight censorship.

Happy banned book week readers. šŸŒˆ
Lets grow a world where every story is welcome.

šŸšØšŸ“šIt's Banned Book Week! šŸ“ššŸšØ

In 2025, 66% of challenged books were removed entirely from libraries- often targeting stories by and about LGBTQIA+ people, people of color, and marginalized voices. This isnā€™t about ā€œprotecting childrenā€ Itā€™s about erasing them.

Celebrating LGBTQIA+ History Month & Tulsa Pride

This October, Tulsa shines brighter than ever as we honor LGBTQIA+ History and Tulsa Pride Month- a time to reflect on how far weā€™ve come and how much further we can go together.

From the Stonewall riots to the Trans Rights Movement, the LGBTQIA+ community has always led the charge for justice, dignity and love. Tulsaā€™s own history is rich with resilience, creativity and activism. Whether itā€™s through art, advocacy or simply living authentically every voice matters.

Tulsa pride isnā€™t just a parade- itā€™s a movement and a reminder love is love.

How is everyone celebrating this month?

We are looking forward to getting together at Elote on the 13th for Once Upon a Drag to help Elote get their own QLC library.

A book can be a mirror.

Sometimes you open a book and find a character who understands something you haven't been able to put into words.

A family that looks a little like yours.

A love story that feels familiar.

A history that includes people like you.

A life that reminds you: I'm not the only one.

Books can be mirrors. They can also be windows, helping us understand lives and experiences beyond our own.

That's why access to q***r literature matters.

Q***rLit Collective is working to make sure q***r stories are accessible in our community, not just for a moment, but for the long term.

Over the next several weeks, we're going to talk about why these stories matter, why access matters, and what it takes to keep this work going.

Because stories belong here.šŸŒˆšŸ“š

Follow along. Share the campaign. And if you believe everyone deserves access to stories that reflect the breadth of our world, consider supporting QLC.

āœØ Once upon a time... someone tried to ban the story.
We're writing a different ending.

Q***rLit Collective and Elote are teaming up for something fabulous: Once Upon a Drag: Celebrating Stories They Tried to Ban.

Expect stories. Drag. Community. A little sparkle. And a whole lot of love for the books and voices people have tried to silence.

Best of all, proceeds from this event will help build the Q***rLit Collective Library at Eloteā€”creating a permanent home for 2SLGBTQIA+ literature in our community.
Something fabulous is coming to Elote. Stay tuned. šŸ‘‘šŸ“šāœØ

Happy 918 Day, Tulsa!

Every single day, we feel so much gratitude for this city. Tulsa isnā€™t just a placeā€”itā€™s a living, breathing tapestry of history, resilience, and heart. Thereā€™s something special about a place that brings people together, builds community, and lays the groundwork for others to grow.

Weā€™re lucky to call Tulsa home, and weā€™re even luckier to be part of a community thatā€™s shaping its future. Hereā€™s to the people, the stories, and the love that make this city what it is.

Thank you, Tulsa. We see you, we love you, and weā€™re honored to be here. šŸ’›
