Coping As a Caregiver

Join The Michigan Parkinson Foundation with Candice Peggs, LMSW, to gain support with other caregivers. If you are caring for someone with Parkinson's, come meet others coping with similar experiences, learn inner resourcing tools, and gain self-compassion skills to feel less alone and more nourished.

PD 101

PD 101 is a free introductory program designed to help individuals and families better understand Parkinson’s disease. Whether you have been newly diagnosed, have been living with Parkinson’s for years, or are a care partner, family member, friend, or healthcare professional, this program is open to anyone looking to learn more about Parkinson’s.

For many individuals and families, PD 101 is the first step in understanding Parkinson’s and learning about the resources available to support you.

During this session, participants will learn about:

• What Parkinson’s disease is and how it affects the brain
• Who develops Parkinson’s and what may contribute to the condition
• Common motor and non-motor symptoms
• How Parkinson’s is diagnosed
• Treatment approaches and symptom management strategies
• Programs, services, and resources available through the Michigan Parkinson Foundation

🚨 Huge news! 🚨 Vermont just became the first state in the nation to ban paraquat, a dangerous chemical linked to an increased risk of developing Parkinson’s disease.

This ban will keep Vermonters safe and prevent people from developing Parkinson's in the first place.

We won't stop fighting until paraquat is banned throughout the U.S. Tell Congress it’s time to follow suit and ban paraquat now: Policy.parkinson.org/campaign/paraquatCongress/

Many people don't realize The Gathering Place is open to the public for lunch M-F, from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. You need not be a senior citizen to enjoy lunch, nor is lunch only for low-income residents--all are welcome!

We feel it's one of the best deals in the county--it would be hard to find a fast food meal including beverage and salad bar that beats the price. The monthly menu is here:

Pictured is a list of the suggested donation amounts. If you are unable to pay, you will not be turned away. If you would like to donate a little bit more, we would gratefully accept that!
