I just had the happy experience of meeting the author of this wonderful series of children's books aimed at building emotional intelligence. If you're a parent, educator, therapist, social worker, children and youth leader, or other people helper - or you just want to understand emotions better for children you know or even yourself, I encourage you to check out Dr. Deana Plaskon's Bella and Bird Explorer series.

I'm excited to start getting her books for our Freedom Farm/HeartSkills Coaching library and mine her resources for ideas for future programs. Deana has lots of free, downloadable resources on her website, too. Thanks, Deana, well done!

We got our first harvest of these beauties - SIX lovely peaches on a ONE YEAR OLD TREE! I’m astonished. I’ve always wanted to grow fruit trees. We’ve planted three micro orchards on the farm in the past two years using Stefan Sobkowiak’s Permaculture Orchard NAP method (“NAP” = nitrogen fixing tree, bush or plant + apple + “p” - peach, pear, or some other fruit or nut tree). Not all of our trees are thriving yet, a few we planted last year never thrived and need to be replaced. But this mighty little one year old peach tree - the fruit tree I’ve read can be most challenging to grow - is blowing my mind. I’m so delighted and thankful. And my first peach was delish!

We still need donors to achieve our goals for a minimum of units collected, and a total of 28 appointments filled. Summer is a critical time for blood donations - while we're enjoying our beautiful northern Michigan summer and vacays, the need for blood for accidents and traumas occur, surgeries, cancer care continues.

PLEASE consider giving the gift of life to help replenish blood supplies for our community. Schedule your giving appointment TODAY ... walk-ins are very welcome, but your chances of getting the time you want are greater if you choose an appointment time ahead of the day.
