is a private, non-profit organization with the mission of “protecting and providing a voice to the homeless animals of Brevard County.” Founded in 1979 in Titusville, Florida, the SPCA is the largest private no-kill animal rescue group in Brevard, finding homes for more than 2,600 animals a year. It is the first adoption facility with free-roaming cat rooms in the County, allowing adopters to interact with the cats in a more home-like setting.

🍎🎃 Carmel is hoping she’ll be the apple of your eye this Halloween! 🎃🍎

Forget the tricks, this sweet girl is looking for the ultimate treat… a new home! ❤️

Meet Carmel, a 9-month-old, medium-sized mixed breed with a beautiful white coat and the cutest brown spots!

This little pumpkin is full of puppy energy and loves to play, explore new places, and make new friends! Carmel is still young, so she’s looking for adopters who are ready to keep up with her adventures and help her continue learning her best puppy manners.

This black and white large mixed breed male dog was found laying in the road on Banbury Ave in Port St. John, FL.

If you recognize this pet or are the owner, please reach out to our adoption center at 321-567-3615 or send us a direct message if we are closed. If you are the owner, you will need to provide proof of ownership (photos, vet records, etc.).

If he is not claimed by 1:30pm today, he will be transported to the Brevard County Animal Services Animal Care Center in Melbourne for the remainder of his 5 day stray hold.

🎃🐾 We're back with Pet of the Week: Halloween Edition! And we're kicking things off with a special little fish... well, a 70-pound one! 😂🐠

Meet Mater! This 1-year-old mixed-breed sweetheart may be dressed as Dory for Halloween, but there's nothing forgettable about this lovable guy!

Mater is a goofy, affectionate boy who loves spending time with people, showing off his playful personality, and soaking up all the attention and snuggles he can get. After previously being adopted and making his way back to the shelter, he's hoping to find his true forever home!
No tricks here, just lots of treats and unconditional love with Mater. ❤️ Could he be the perfect addition to your family?

🎃🐾 Just a bunch of cute shelter pets in costumes here to remind you to keep your furry friends safe this Halloween weekend! 🎃🐾

Halloween is a fun time for the whole family, and our pets love getting in on the festivities (okay, maybe the cats don’t always LOVE the costumes 😂).

While we enjoy all the spooky fun, it’s important to remember that Halloween can come with some unexpected dangers for our four-legged friends!

Here are a few tips to keep your pets safe this weekend:

🍬 Keep the candy out of reach! Chocolate and many other sweet treats can be toxic to pets. If you’re bringing your pup trick-or-treating, keep an eye on the ground for candy that little humans may have dropped along the way!

✨ Watch out for festive accessories! Glow sticks, decorations, and other Halloween goodies can be harmful if chewed or swallowed. Keep them away from curious paws!

🐕 Keep those leashes on! Even the bravest pups can get spooked by costumes, decorations, or unexpected noises. Always keep your dogs securely leashed when out and about.

🚪 Beware of escape artists! With trick-or-treaters coming and going, doors will be opening frequently. Keep your pets safely secured so they don’t sneak out during the excitement!

🏷️ Double-check identification! Make sure your pets are wearing updated ID tags and that their microchip information is current. If they do get loose, proper identification can help bring them home safely.

One of the things we love most about working at the Adoption Center is receiving updates on our SPCA alumni! ❤️

Today, we were all smiles after hearing from Tiramisu’s (now Bama) dad about how wonderfully she has adjusted to life in her new home!

Bama has been living her best life, enjoying beach trips, dog parks, and even visits to our SPCA thrift stores!

Her dad shared something that made our hearts extra happy:

“She is amazing and without a doubt the dog I was meant to adopt forever.” 🥹❤️

THIS is what makes the hard days worth it. Seeing the animals we have loved and cared for thriving in their new homes is a feeling that never gets old.

Tiramisu (Bama), we sure do miss having you in our playgroups, but boy, are we happy to see you doing so well, girly!

Keep living your best life, sweet girl! You will always have a special place in our SPCA family. ❤️🐾

❤️ Available Foster Friday: Meet Sunkist! ❤️

This handsome boy is soaking up life outside of the shelter, but he’s still dreaming of a new home to call his own! ☀️

Sunkist is a 5-year-old tan and white mixed breed who has been back in our care since last December. Thankfully, a wonderful foster home has given him the opportunity to decompress from shelter life, relax, and let his personality shine!

Sunkist is playful, adventurous, and always up for a good walk! He walks beautifully on a leash and has really grown to love working on his training, especially when his favorite treats or toys are involved. 🐾

Sunkist is looking for a calm, adult-only household where he can continue to thrive. He can be a little particular about his canine companions, but that doesn’t mean he’s ruling out having a doggy sibling! We would be happy to arrange a dog-on-dog meet and greet with any potential adopters and their pups in the comfort and safety of our play yard.

The best part? Sunkist’s adoption fee is FULLY SPONSORED! ❤️
