Dr. Jay Shickley Barnhart Jr., our beloved “Fung Guy”
🍄 February 27, 1935 - October 24, 2024 🍄
We honor "Dr. Jay" on this second anniversary of his passing.
Dr. Jay shared an incredible wealth of knowledge and his love of nature with so many through his years of volunteering at the Enchanted Forest Sanctuary, Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, and Canaveral National Seashore. His enthusiasm for wildlife, plants, and especially fungi made learning from him a truly pleasant and memorable experience.
Although he is no longer walking the trails with us, his legacy lives on through the knowledge he shared, the friendships he made, and the appreciation for nature he inspired in others.
