Two times per year your friends at the 3rd Division PNR gather with our Model Railroad friends in Twin Falls, Idaho. This past weekend was one of those visits.
If you have followed this page for very long at all, then you know that the 3rd Division PNR train guys eat pizza.
We’re met at Idaho Pizza Company in Twin Falls. Joined by area friends, we enjoyed some excellent pizza and salad and fantastic railroad conversation.
We had three cars of participants from the Treasure Valley as well local Twin modelers.
On the way back, we visited the local hobby shop, had great stop at Northside Model Railroad Association - THANKS Zack, a museum stop, Shoshone , Idaho, where we stood on the foundations of the former turntable and roundhouse. We looked at the former diverging line to the Sun Valley branch, and also walked around the beautiful Shoshone, Idaho train station.
There were various stops on the way back to the Boise area, including Tunupa, Bliss, Idaho - to see Idaho’s most famous GP-9, and the old Union Pacific Railroad water tower.
As often as possible, we stuck to old highway US 30, which took us to King Hill, Glenn’s Ferry, Hammet, and Mountain Home.
The 3rd Division provides some sort of railroad activity every week. Once a month we have a zoom call, the trains and coffee gathering in Ontario, Oregon, Tuesday night trains and pizza, as well as our fourth Saturday luncheon layouts tour!
Join the NMRA today and and find community with other model railroaders and rail fans.
