OPOA delivers more wins for Rural Oregon! Today, the Legislature passed two key bills aimed at supporting the bottom lines of our farm families.

HB 4130 provides much needed tax relief for farmers preparing and processing their own farm crops.

HB 4153 provides a new land use permit for property owners to have a farm store and agritourism events on their farms.

We are so appreciative of the legislative champions of these bills. Thank you Representative Shelly Boshart Davis and Senator Kim Thatcher for carrying our tax bill. Thank you Representative Vikki Breese Iverson and Senator Fred Girod for championing farm stores!

We are so happy to have gotten to partner with good organizations like the Association of Oregon Counties and the Oregon Farm Bureau who are committed to uplifting and protecting our family farms and ranches!

Huge news! OPOA's "Replacement Dwelling" bill just passed the Senate floor with all YES votes! This clears a major hurdle for allowing families who have lost their homes to natural disaster an expedited path to rebuild. This is a major step forward to creating a more resilient Oregon!

From Tragedy to Transformation: The Story Behind SB 1561 This afternoon, the Oregon Senate unanimously approved SB 1561 on a 28–0 vote. The goal is simple: when a home is destroyed by wildfire, earthquake, flood, or even a freak accident (like a neighbor’s tree falling on your roof), families sh...

The Oregon Property Owners Association is proud to announce that Dave Hunnicutt and Samantha Bayer have assumed leadership of the Western Resources Legal Center (WRLC), housed at Lewis & Clark Law School.

As a specialized practicum, the WRLC provides second- and third-year law students with vital, “boots-on-the-ground” experience representing real-world clients in the agriculture, ranching, forestry, mining, and energy industries. By taking the lead at WRLC, Dave and Samantha are ensuring that the next generation of attorneys enters the workforce with both the high-level skills and the practical perspective necessary to defend the rights of property owners and natural resource producers across the West.

This renewed focus on education does more than just train students; it builds a future where our rural communities have the world-class advocacy they deserve to stay strong, productive, and free - securing the economic backbone of our region for years to come.

Under the new leadership, law students will get hands-on experience representing natural resource industry clients, as well as experience in advocacy and policy development

This , your support of the OPOA Legal Center does more than fund legal work — it protects the future of property rights in Oregon. And with a generous $10,000 match pledged by one of our supporters, every dollar you give goes twice as far!

The OPOA Legal Center provides pro bono legal representation in cases that shape how every Oregonian can use, enjoy, and pass down their property. Most families can’t afford to take on the state, a county, or a regulatory agency when their rights are threatened. That’s where the Legal Center steps in — offering expert legal defense at no cost to the property owner.

When you donate, you’re not just helping someone today. You’re investing in an insurance policy for your own property rights, your community’s stability, and the future your kids will inherit. Your gift helps us take on the cases that matter — the ones that set statewide precedent, protect due process, and keep Oregon’s land‑use system accountable.

From now till Tuesday, we will be raising funds to reach out $10K match goal! Donations can be made online or by check. Learn more at www.oregonpropertyowners.org/donate

This Thanksgiving, we’re grateful for full tables, full hearts — and the fundamental right to call a place home.

📢 We need your help!
The Hood River County Planning Department has issued conditions on our Farm Stand Permit that could make it impossible for us to continue offering family-friendly activities and hosting Fall at the Farm.

We’re asking the Planning Commission to change their “No” to “Yes” so that Packer Orchards can keep doing what we love most — growing food, baking treats, and creating farm memories for your families. 🌻🍎🎃

👉 Please submit your comments in support of our amended farm stand application to [email protected]
