NorthStar Clubhouse, a program of New Narrative, was honored to welcome First Lady Aimee Kotek Wilson for a tour, conversation, and time with our members.

During her visit, members shared what NorthStar means to them, reflected on their experiences, and spoke openly about what they need and hope to see as Oregon plans and budgets for mental health services.

Thank you, First Lady Aimee Kotek Wilson, for listening with care, asking thoughtful questions, and making space for the voices of people with lived experience. We were proud to share the community, connection, purpose, and possibility that members and staff build together at NorthStar every day.

What does case management mean? At New Narrative, case managers cover a lot of areas of assistance for our participants. They act as connectors and advocates and focus on meeting everyday practical needs. New Narrative case management is referral-based.

New Narrative is actively participating in Multnomah County budget hearings this month. On Wednesday, May 13, members of NorthStar Clubhouse testified in person at Mt. Hood Community College regarding Clubhouse funding and the importance of supportive employment and community-based mental health services.

In addition, teams across several New Narrative programs are submitting written testimony and participating in hearings throughout the budget process. Community voices matter. Public participation plays an important role in shaping budget decisions that impact behavioral health, housing, and supportive services across our region.
