Grace DeCarlo of The Woodlands Township discusses the state of curbside recycling in The Woodlands, including participation, diversion, and contamination rates. Using data from their solid waste contractor, Grace examines changes in all three of these measures over the last 5 years and how they compare to national averages. Beyond traditional curbside recycling, The Woodlands Township offers a host of specialty recycling events and programs. The lecture examines the success of these programs before looking ahead to new programs launching in late 2025 and beyond.Grac

The Woodlands G.R.E.E.N. in partnership with the Heartwood Chapter, Texas Master Naturalist and the W.G. Jones State Forest Education Program, offer classes for adults and high school students to certify as Texas Waters Specialists.
The certification - a program of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department - requires 8 hours of training.

Classes are held throughout the year on a variety of water-realted topics.

🌳 Help Keep the Woods in The Woodlands!
Help grow our community's forest! Join us for the Timarron Park Tree Planting on Saturday, November 7, from 9 to 11 a.m. and help plant nearly 300 native trees!

Volunteers ages 16 and older will receive a brief planting demonstration before getting to work. Light breakfast and refreshments will be provided.

Residents are invited to safely dispose of household hazardous waste during a free, one-day Household Hazardous Waste Drive-Thru event on Saturday, November 21, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sterling Ridge Park & Ride, located at 8001 McBeth Way.

Hosted by The Woodlands Township Environmental Services Department in cooperation with the Houston-Galveston Area Council and Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, the event provides residents with a convenient way to dispose of household products that may be corrosive, flammable, poisonous, reactive or otherwise unsuitable for regular waste collection.

We're sorry to let you know that this Sunday's Junior Urban Naturalist Club program (October 25 at 1pm) has been canceled due to instructor illness.

Hopefully we’ll see you at our next JUNC program - “Reptiles!” - on Sunday, November 15 @ 1pm at W G Jones State Forest (North Side Classroom). You can register for this program HERE.
