From self-doubt to State competition!

What began as a classroom art project became a transformative experience for one Caney Creek High School student.

With support from The Woodlands Arts Council’s Dr. David Gottlieb Education Microgrant, students gained access to professional-quality art materials and new creative techniques, helping them build skills, confidence, and a voice through art.

One student, who initially doubted her artistic abilities, created a deeply personal ceramic sculpture inspired by growth and resilience. For the first time, she felt truly proud of something she had created. Her artwork went on to qualify for the UIL Visual Art Scholastic Event State competition!

Her story is just one example of how access to arts education can open doors and help students discover what they’re capable of.

Applications for our next round of Microgrants closed earlier this month, and evaluations are underway. We look forward to announcing the recipients in December and supporting more inspiring projects like this one!
