Arts Illiana, a membership-based, non-profit comprised of arts organizations, artists, and businesses.

Arts Illiana serves as a Regional Arts Partner with the Indiana Arts Commission and is funded in part through the NEA and the IAC, a state agency. Arts Illiana is proud to serve as one of the eleven Regional Arts Partners with the Indiana Arts Commission. Funding through this partnership increases our ability to achieve our mission to promote and support the artists, arts & cultural organizations in Clay, Parke, Putnam, Sullivan, Vermillion, and Vigo counties in Indiana. Regional Arts Partners work alongside the Indiana Arts Commission to promote and expand participation in the arts in Indiana. The partners provide broad local access to arts services and funding opportunities and provides services that include, but are not limited to, grantsmaking and information and referral.

Community Engagement (CE)/Community Impact Webinar

Audience: Arts Organizations, Non-arts Organizations who provide arts programs, events, experiences.

Goal: improve organizations’ understanding of, and implementation of better community engagement strategies leading to impactful outcomes that strengthen your organization. Increased knowledge of the importance of community engagement/community impact will also help build grant writing skills in those areas.

Congratulations, BankOnArt! A great addition to the Wabash Valley Arts Community!

BankOnArt Gallery is proving that investing in the arts can pay off in dividends, including in small towns.

The Brazil Trust Co. building of Brazil, Indiana, has lived several lives. Built in 1911, it was a bank until 2006. Then, it was an events venue. Then COVID-19 hit.

The elder generations who banked there and the younger folks who hosted gatherings there were all eager to see the building start another chapter.

Its future was uncertain until Gabriele Dillmann, then a professor at Purdue University 70 miles away in West Lafayette, and her partner, furniture craftsman Brent Frain, saw it was for sale.

“Brent and I had always wanted a building where he could do his woodworking; I had always dreamed of having my own gallery,” Gabriele says.

The couple spent four years renovating the inside, beginning by removing 32 tons of material from the second floor, which became their apartment. The ground floor became Gabriele’s dreamed-of gallery, with moveable wooden walls (built by Brent) that could be arranged into any layout.

BankOnArt Gallery is a first for Brazil, a small community of just over 8,000 people whose nearest larger neighbor is 16 miles away. In less than a year, the gallery has opened up a wealth of opportunity—for artists, the community, and surrounding towns.

“The middle of nowhere is becoming the middle of somewhere quickly!” Gabriele says.

Arts Illiana and West Central Indiana Small Business Development Center are partnering to present an Art & Business information session on Saturday, October 17, 2026 from 10:00 to 1:00 pm (ET).

The workshop will include a presentation from our local SBDC to provide information about their services, opportunities for artists, and answer your questions! Following the presentation, Arts Illiana will provide a light lunch and host a panel of visual artists who have been successful in engaging in the business side of their prospective art careers. They will share their successes and challenges from their personal experiences in developing business strategies. Additionally, they will provide discussion around your questions, comments/ concerns.

The workshop is offered free of charge to attendees and is funded in part through Arts Illiana's Regional Arts Partnership with the Indiana Arts Commission. Please email [email protected] for the registration link.
