South Coast Bikeway The South Coast Bikeway will be a 50-mile system of bike paths from Rhode Island to Cape Cod. Get people excited about a regional bikeway.

Where we began
The South Coast Bikeway Alliance was formed in March of 2011 to build upon momentum for the creation of a regional bikeway system eventually linking area cities and towns. It was launched jointly by Fall River and New Bedford Mass In Motion, municipal initiatives focused on improving active living policies, systems and environments

The Southcoast Bikeway Alliance now stands gratefully on the shoulders of those who have labored before us to complete bikepath segments in Fall River, Fairhaven and Mattapoisett, the first 5 miles of this regional vision. Where we are Going
The resulting bikeway will:
Increase recreational resources, Improve the health of area residents, Provide an alternative transportation
route for regional commuters, Encourage economic development

Goals
Create opportunities to ride and walk together Improve bicycle access and safety. Educate bicyclists, motorists, the public. Encourage commuting by bicycle. Promote bicycle-friendly legislation. How to Help

There’s still time to purchase tickets to attend tonight’s Oars & Pours event. This annual event supports New Bedford Rowing Center’s work to connect residents of all ages with the Acushnet River.
We look forward to the construction of the planned City of New Bedford RiverWalk, which will allow bicycle and pedestrian access along the river.

A heartfelt thank you to our Oars Sponsors for this year's Oars & Pours Fall Benefit! Your generous support helps us build a stronger rowing community.

Still time to buy tickets! Follow the link here: https://newbedfordrowing.org/events/?gf_page_18=1

The East Coast Greenway Alliance is pleased with the recent improvements to the Phoenix Rail Trail and our plans to complete the Bikeway and the ECG coastal route. Thank you to MassDOT, Town of Fairhaven, Fairhaven Livable Streets Committee, Fairhaven Community Preservation Committee, and Department of Public Works and individuals who contributed to the success of this project.

It was great to celebrate the reopening of the Phoenix Rail Trail, one of the first federally funded bike paths completed. We were happy to have some folks who attended the original dedication in 1999. This well-loved path received a terrific update to today’s standards.
This project was made possible by the Town of Fairhaven Community Preservation Fund, Mass Trails – Department of Conservation and Recreation, Fairhaven DPW, and the support of the Board of Selectmen, Economic Development Committee, and numerous volunteers.

Special guests: State Representative Mark Sylvia and renowned Rail Trail advocate Craig Della Penna recognized the benefits the path contributes to the community.

Cyclists who chose a longer 40-mile route through Westport and Dartmouth were fortunate to stop at the oldest country store, Davoll’s, in historic Russells Mills Village and then join the crew at Cisco Brewers New Bedford.
