This we are extending an enormous thank you to Shields Health!
For 30 years, Shields Health has been a critical supporter of Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro South. On Tuesday of this week, our 30th Anniversary Shields Health Golf Tournament raised nearly $400k in support of our youth!
We had an incredible time on and off the course celebrating this year's accomplishments with almost 300 golfers and community partners who enjoyed an action-packed day of golf, contests, raffles, a silent auction, cocktail reception, and award ceremony.
Two years ago, we introduced a new opportunity for our young people called the Tom & Mary Shields Scholarship – in honor of the Shields family’s longtime commitment to Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro South and passionate belief in the potential of today’s youth.
This scholarship is meant to help open doors for our members as they take big steps into their futures. It’s more than just financial support, it's a way for our Club community supporters to say, we believe in our kids!
Each year now, we select one rising 8th grader to join our Shields Scholars cohort. In addition to a $10,000 college scholarship, our Shields Scholars begin a 4-year journey with BGCMS, taking them through high school graduation – with 1:1 mentoring and ongoing support and experiences to help them fully emerge as leaders for our Clubs, community, and beyond!
We were proud to celebrate both our 2025 and 2026 scholars at the tournament this year!
We rely on the unwavering support and generosity of Shields Health and the Shields Family to sustain our programs and operations year after year. We are so grateful for their partnership and support of our Clubs and our youth!
