The new Downtown Walking Trail Maps are now posted at all four Community Boards:

The self-guided trail is a great way to experience downtown's history, public spaces, and hidden gems. Along the route, you'll find the StoryWalk loop, six signs highlighting historic downtown sites, and plenty of beautiful, often-overlooked corners that make Downtown Taunton unique.

Whether you're a longtime resident or visiting for the first time, the walking trail offers a fresh perspective on the places, stories, and landmarks that shape our community.

Check out the trail at any of the four Community Boards and start exploring. It's the perfect activity for a sunny afternoon, a family outing, or anyone looking to discover something new right here in Downtown Taunton.

What a morning at Mill River Park!

Wednesday’s ribbon cutting for the StoryWalk permanent installation was everything we hoped it would be – a true celebration of what happens when a community comes together around a shared idea.

A huge thank you to Mayor O’Connell for joining us, and to our incredible partners: Taunton Public Library , City of Taunton Park and Recreation , and City of Taunton Department of Public Works . Special shoutout to Billy and Dan at DPW, who did the hands-on work of installing the permanent panels – you made it real.

This project has been a labor of love from the start, and watching families walk through the park and read along together made every step worth it. That’s what it’s all about.

The current story is The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle – head over to Mill River Park and take a walk! Our goal is to feature 1-2 new stories per month year-round, weather permitting, so there’s always a reason to come back.

The StoryWalk is part of the Downtown Riverwalk & Heritage Trail – just follow the blue bootprints. The 3/4 mile StoryWalk Loop is perfect for families with young children, and the full trail stretches 3 miles through downtown Taunton. Trail maps can be viewed at four community boards located at the corner of Trescott & Main, Seeley Park across from the Taunton Green, in front of Taunton Public Library, and behind City Hall near the entrance to the City Walk.

Public/private partnerships like this one are what make Taunton special. Simple, joyful, and free – this one belongs to everyone.

This project was supported in part by a grant from the Taunton Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency. Additional funding provided by the Taunton Public library, and Downtown Taunton Foundation.
