Overdose Awareness Day..... We Remember! Massachusetts is seeing encouraging movement in the numbers. The state reported an estimated 978 opioid-related overdose deaths in 2025, the first time the annual number has fallen below 1,000 in more than a decade. That's progress worth acknowledging.
But we cannot let a declining number make us forget what every number represents.
978 lives is still 978 families, friends, dreams, and stories.
So today, we remember.
We educate.
We connect people to resources.
We support those still struggling.
We celebrate those in recovery.
And we continue building communities where asking for help is met with connection—not judgment.
To everyone who walked with us, stood beside us, shared their story, provided resources, spoke, listened, supported, performed, or simply showed up:

Thank you, City of Taunton and Taunton Op**te and Substance Use PreventionTask Force for putting this event together. This is what community looks like.
This is what recovery looks like.

Yesterday, our community members were back out in the community, connecting with people and helping spread the word about the resources, support, and recovery community available through our center.

Today, our outreach is one of the things we are praised for most — and that's because our members don't just talk about recovery. They show up for it.

A special shoutout to Beth B., our first member on record, for continuing to represent our center and help us connect with the community we serve. ❤️

There are moments in community work that deserve more than a simple “thank you. " Taunton Op**te and Substance Use PreventionTask Force April C. Funches Thank you for allowing our Peer Center to be apart of the vision the City of Taunton has for its response to resources and the recovery community. You have open doors for us that will go on to impact generation after us. Tomorrow is the big day!!! Silver City. Let's show up and show out. Overdose Awareness Day 💜 Progress Not Perfection!
