The Learning Pavilion (Formerly The Dick Howser Center for Childhood Services, Inc.) is a non-profit agency that began in 1974 as a small parent group in Tallahassee. We create an inclusive, nurturing environment for children with varying gifts and abilities. Encourage development of each child’s self-esteem and personal independence. Minimize the effects of disabilities through early intervention

, education, developmental pre-school, family support, therapy and other community-based services. We want to foster children and focus on the “whole child” by helping them grow and learn effectively through developmental play. Through the implementation of the Creative Curriculum and Conscious Discipline the children at our center use their natural curiosity to learn, grow, and develop in the best learning environment. Children with special needs are provided physical, occupational, & speech therapy services by therapists specializing in pediatrics. Services are provided an atmosphere of partnership involving the individual, family members, teachers, therapists, board members, and other human services agencies and organizations. Children who are at risk, or have disabilities, DESERVE a place like TLP where they can flourish and thrive…

Our little sharks dove into a week full of jawsome adventures, sporting their favorite ocean-inspired gear, playing fishing games, exploring through hands-on activities, and yes… getting a little messy along the way! 💙

What an incredible evening! Thank you to all the families who joined us for Parent Night and embraced the joy of learning alongside their children.

From STEM challenges and ocean exploration to art, dramatic play, and writing, our classrooms were filled with curiosity, laughter, and proud little guides eager to share what they love.
