"Finding a job can be very difficult especially when you do not know how to start. Luckily I had a great guide named Maggie that made this process very easy. Being the eldest daughter I've always had to figure everything out by myself which always made everything very hard.

After high school I was very confused and lost on how to look for jobs and how to get started with this new chapter of my life called “adulting”. I was constantly getting frustrated with myself since I was expected to navigate financial responsibilities and employment searches, all while trying to figure out who I am. I finally reached out for help and found a program that made my life so much easier.

Maggie made the process a very manageable and encouraging experience by giving me the motivation and confidence. After many months of job searching, Maggie helped me get my current job at Seamar Community Health centers as a front desk receptionist by showing me how an interview goes and helping me with my resume and my cover letter. I’m currently about to be on my third year working for this clinic and I couldn't be more happier. This job has opened up so many opportunities for my future by expanding my knowledge on both the medical and dental field." - Anahi

Amber and Tevin’s story shows what can happen when families have access to the right support, resources, and opportunities. Over the past year, Tevin has made tremendous progress toward greater financial stability. When he began, he had no credit score. Today, his credit score is 687. He has also advanced in his employment and is now working in a supervisory role earning $30 an hour— providing greater financial security and opportunity for his family.

At the same time, Amber and her family have been able to turn to the Sumner Family Center for practical resources that help meet their everyday needs. Through the Center, Amber has received essential items including a car seat, clothing, hygiene products, and diapers. Together, these supports have helped the family address immediate needs while also working toward long-term financial stability.

Their story demonstrates the power of the partnership between the Sumner Family Center and Sound Outreach’s Center for Strong Families model. Families can access resources for today while receiving the coaching and support they need to build a stronger tomorrow. For Amber and Tevin, progress has meant more than one accomplishment—it has meant increased income, established credit, access to essential resources, and a stronger foundation for their family’s
future.

🚌 Celebrating the Power of Community! 💚
On Friday, October 2, Sound Outreach staff had the opportunity to participate in the United Way of Pierce County’s Center for Strong Families (CSF) Bus Tour!
Our first stop was right here at Sound Outreach’s Sumner-Bonney Lake location, where we were proud to showcase the work happening in our community and share how the CSF model is helping individuals and families build stronger financial futures.
We were also honored to hear from Sumner Mayor Carla Bowman and Pierce County Council Member Jani Hitchen, who joined us in recognizing the importance of community partnerships and the work being done across Pierce County.
It was a wonderful day filled with connection, collaboration, and celebration—and a great reminder of what’s possible when we come together to support our communities. 💚

Another great financial coaching success to celebrate! 💙
Jennifer Cram has been working with a client who first came to her in October for help addressing a collection account on their credit report. Together, they set up a payment plan and worked toward having the account removed from the client’s credit report once it was paid in full.

The client has now successfully completed those payments, and when they checked their credit, they saw a 51-point increase! 🎉

With that progress behind them, they’ve now moved on to a second account that needed attention. Jennifer helped negotiate the balance down to 79% of the original amount, and they established a payment plan. Once the account is paid in full, it will also be removed from the client’s credit report.

Step by step, this client is taking control of their finances and making meaningful progress toward their financial goals. ✨

A new chapter is beginning for one of Jennifer Cram’s clients! 💙
After incarceration, they recently started their first job and are working toward several important goals for their future. Together, they’re creating a plan to complete the FAFSA and pursue their education, developing a budget to address past-due child support, and taking the first steps toward establishing credit.

It’s exciting to see the progress being made and the goals taking shape. Through financial coaching, clients can build a plan, gain knowledge, and take steps toward the future they envision for themselves. ✨
