1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East We are a Union of healthcare workers. We care for the sick, the infirm, the elderly. Ours is noble work.

We work in the homecare, hospital and nursing home industries, as well as pharmacies, freestanding clinics and other healthcare settings. We are dedicated to our patients, our members and our families.

CNY Celebrates Leaders in Training Program Graduates!

The Leaders in Training (LIT) development program is an 8-month long commitment that equips member leaders with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to build stronger union chapters and advocate for their coworkers. Participants developed skills in public speaking, organizing, strategic planning, and chapter building while exploring labor history, politics, immigration, and economics. The program also connected classroom learning to real-world challenges and issues facing members in their workplaces.

Today,1199SEIU joined Congressman Timothy Kennedy and a coalition of labor organizations to talk about the impact of work requirements on our patients/residents with Medicaid coverage because of the Big Ugly Bill. Republicans like Congressman Nick Langworthy voted for cuts impacting our hospitals & nursing homes but today, we are talking about how we can protect care! Hands off Medicaid and stop the cuts!
