The Community Table

The Community Table Established in 1999, the Community Table is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving nutritious meals to our neighbors in need in Jackson County, NC.

We have a Community Dinner program and a Food Pantry Program. Normal Operations:

The Community Table is a 501 (c)(3)nonprofit organization dedicated to providing nutritious meals to our neighbors in need in a welcoming environment since 1999. It is our vision that no one in Jackson County goes to bed hungry. Meals are served on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 4-5:30p.m. Anyone in n

eed of a good home-cooked meal is welcome and there is never a fee. Our Food Pantry program also provides food boxes for home use between 11 and 5:30 on the same days. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the food is always nutritious and delicious. WE ARE CLOSED CERTAIN HOLIDAYS. Please see our website/event calendar for more details. communitytable.org

Hi all -

This is a hard message to post, and we have held off until now because the news we are sharing has just been too difficult to process. Our beloved Board President, Long-time Volunteer, and most importantly Friend, Steve Steinbrueck passed away on May 21, 2026.

For nearly a decade, through the hardest of times, and the best, Steve, along with his amazing wife Pat, supported the Community Table and the community of Sylva as a whole, in dozens of ways. They gave time, funds, love, and laughter to us and so many others. He spoke truth to power, gave freely of himself, and fiercely defended the rights and welfare of others. He was smart and funny and kind and hardworking and we miss him terribly.

Safe journeys in the great beyond, Steve. We love you.
