Self-Care POST!!
Our wonderful student Courtney took time for herself and worked with crystals and their energy as part of her self-care routine.

Breanna is making self-care a priority...
She has taken the time to take care of herself while having fun doing it. She purchased a gym membership and is committed to visiting often. She took the weekend often to spend quality time with her nieces in Tennesse. She takes her dog Boogie on daily walks and regularly maintains her gorgeous hair color. We love you, Breanna. Keep up the good work!

Here is a friendly letter from one of our caring students....

Dear Friends,
Ginger Alfrey 1/2021

I have compiled a few things that you can do to start helping your local disenfranchised folks. That means… the homeless, the sick, the unfed, the mentally ill, the substance addicted, the unfortunate, the families, and the individuals that are out there suffering from a lack of basic human needs. There are several ways in which you can help!
1.) You may volunteer your time and vehicle (offering rides to others and getting them from A to B is much easier in a car.)
2.) You may buy supplies and give them to me or Helping Hands of Haywood so we may create specific care packages to meet needs as they come up. ( I will attach a list)
3.) You may donate land, office space, a vehicle, a house, money, or any other thing you think would be beneficial in helping us help others!
4.) You may start looking at the homeless and disenfranchised in a different way; trying to overcome indifference and see that each one of these people has a soul. And each one deserves the ability to be looked at as valuable. You may not see it, but God sure does.
I am connected to several collaborating organizations out there and want to help however I can! Which is why I am reaching out to you all. I have connections with non-profits and outreach groups. We are mostly dealing right now with emergency shelter situations and needs.
Thanks for your help, empathy and compassion for humans and the state of their being. I would like to introduce you to a local nonprofit that is helping with emergent needs and the one that other organizations are getting their emergent needs met by as well……

Here is a Letter I will share with you. Please Click on the link in the letter to donate!

Dear Ginger and friends,

Thank you for showing an interest in our organization, we are excited to share our story and mission with you.

Helping Hands of Haywood is a grassroots organization, started in 2019. We formed as a response to suffering in our community. Beyond the scope of helping people in need, we strive to educate the public about mental health and addiction, to protect valuable resources, and to dispel disinformation using science. We stand in solidarity with other organizations that aim to prevent homelessness, that treat mental health and addiction, and provide food security. We are all volunteers, all of the funds go towards the causes.

Our biggest focus right now is Code Purple, where we provide shelter to people on freezing nights. We also help pay for deposits, rent, utilities, prescriptions, vehicle repairs, medical treatment, food, and anything else related to mental health, homelessness, or addiction. We believe that when problems like temporary shelter and food are solved for people in crisis, they can better focus on uplifting themselves out of poverty or addiction. Helping clients navigate the local resource funnel, and get to and from appointments, are an essential part of what we do. We don't believe that addiction defines a person, and we don't drug test or exclude people that are active users from our program. We do our best to help wherever and whenever we are needed, based on funding.

I'm happy to answer any questions that you may have. I attached a flyer that shows our collaboration with the Town of Waynesville for winter shelter. Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you.
