✏️🎨 Does your child love to draw people, fashion, costumes, or characters?

Join local artist Julie for Portraits, Figures & Costumed Models, a hands-on drawing class designed for middle school-aged artists who are ready to take their skills to the next level!

Students will learn:
✨ Portrait drawing basics
✨ Whole-body proportions
✨ Figure drawing techniques
✨ Sketching from a live costumed model

This fun and supportive class encourages creativity, observation, and artistic confidence while introducing students to the foundations of figure drawing. It's a great fit for young artists interested in illustration, character design, fashion, costume design, theatre, and visual storytelling.

Our Teen Playwriting Intensive has spent the week creating original scripts, and our Design & Tech campers have been hard at work learning real theatre skills—from safely using power tools to build scenic elements to designing and painting backdrops. Now it's time for our performers to bring these brand-new stories to life!

Whether you bought a ticket, volunteered, donated, brought a friend, or simply helped spread the word, you made this production possible.

Over the past two weekends, audiences filled our new downtown home to share this beautiful story. Your support helps us do more than produce theatre—it helps us build a community arts hub where artists, young people, and audiences can gather, create, and connect.

Thank you for believing in live theatre, local artists, and the power of storytelling.

Now we're off to dry a few tears, round up six rabbit dolls - some with silk pajamas, and start dreaming about what's next. 🎭🐇❤️

A huge THANK YOU to the incredible teens and families who joined us for our Teen Playwriting Intensive last week at Calliope! ✨

There is something truly powerful about giving young people the opportunity to create their own stories, share their perspectives, and discover that their voices matter. Through writing, collaboration, imagination, problem-solving, and storytelling, these students aren't just learning theatre—they're developing communication skills, empathy, confidence, creativity, and critical thinking that will serve them in every future career and every future chapter of their lives.

And to the parents and families who support that creativity: thank you. Encouraging young people to explore the arts is an investment in their social and emotional development, their resilience, and their ability to think creatively in a rapidly changing world. We firmly believe that STEAM is better than STEM—because true excellence happens when innovation and imagination work together.

Also, where else can a teenager create an entirely new world, write dialogue for 12 characters, solve plot problems, and brood over their writing at the local coffee shop all in the same week?

We can't wait to see these brand-new plays come to life when our Youth Performance campers present the WORLD PREMIERES of these original scripts on Friday, June 12! Join us and help celebrate the next generation of storytellers. 🎭
