🎄 A Cub Scout Christmas Morning 🎄

In homes across the Lowcountry,
before the dawn’s first light,
a hush lay soft like winter snow,
on this calm and joyful night.

Stockings hung and trees aglow,
the world wrapped warm and bright,
and Scouts slept sound with dreams of cheer
’til morning broke in sight.

Then tiny feet hit hallway floors,
the day had finally come,
a day of laughter, love and light,
of families joined as one.

But even in the magic,
with gifts and cocoa too,
our Scouts remember kindness
and the Good Turn that they do.

For Christmas isn’t only gifts—
it’s service, heart and care,
helping those around us
with a smile we gladly share.

So from our mighty Pack 742,
to each family far and near,
we send warm wishes, love and joy,
this Merry Christmas cheer.

May peace and wonder fill your home,
may hearts be shining bright,
and may the spirit of Scouting
guide us kindly through the night.

Merry Christmas from Pack 742.
May your day be happy, warm, and full of light.

“Every Scout Deserves a Trained Leader.”

This weekend, several members of Pack 742 dedicated their time to learning, growing, and strengthening their leadership skills through BALOO Training at Camp Ho Non Wah.

Please join us in congratulating and thanking:
• Naomi – Bear Den Leader
• Shatonia – Wolf Den Leader
• Nick – Fundraising Chair

for attending, participating, and successfully completing BALOO training!

And a huge thank-you to Ben (Cubmaster) and Monica (AOL Den Leader) for volunteering as course staff — helping train the leaders of tomorrow.

Together, these dedicated adults showed why Pack 742 continues to thrive as one of the Lowcountry’s strongest Cub Scout programs. From round-robin instructional stations and group learning sessions to community-style meals, these leaders embraced the spirit of Scouting while gaining the tools to make every campout safe, fun, and memorable.

Every Scout truly deserves a trained leader — and Pack 742 has some of the best. 💛💙

🎃 Happy Halloween from Pack 742! 👻

This past Tuesday, our Pack had an awesome time at our annual Trunk-or-Treat Pack Meeting at St. George Episcopal Church!

We had 14 creative trunks decorated by our amazing Pack 742 families, a costume contest, and a Scout-voted Best Trunk Award — the creativity and spirit were incredible! The Scouts had a blast going trunk-to-trunk, collecting candy, and celebrating together.

A huge thank you to every family who decorated, donated candy, and came out to make the night such a success. Events like these are what make Pack 742 so special!

🦇 Wishing all our Scouts and families a safe and fun Halloween Night — may your buckets be full and your costumes spooky!

Cub Haunted 2025 was a huge success! 👻

Pack 742 had an amazing weekend at Camp Ho Non Wah for Cub Haunted Session 2! Between Scouts, siblings, leaders, and parents, we had around 47 attendees — and for many, it was their first camping experience or first in a long time.

Fun was had by all — from dining in the historic Camp Ho Non Wah dining hall to witnessing the spooky excitement of the Cub Haunted Council Fire!
Our Scouts enjoyed a full evening of activities, including:

🎃 The Ghouls Dance Party
🍬 Tent-or-Treat in Bohicket Village
💥 Glowing wrist rockets
👻 A very spooky Haunted Trail walk
🚜 And of course… the classic Haunted Hayride!

The weather was perfect, the atmosphere was full of Scouting spirit, and Pack 742 made some fantastic memories together.

A huge thank you to the Council organizers, volunteers, and our amazing Pack families who helped make this event such a wonderful experience for all.

Pack 742 sure knows how to do Cub Haunted right! 💛💙

This morning, Pack 742 joined forces with Backpack Buddies at St. George's Episcopal Church of Summerville to help pack 384 food bags for children across six local schools.

Thank you to Phoebe, Allison, Lucas (Webelos), and Joseph for representing our Pack at today’s packing — and to all Pack families who continue donating food each month. Your support is helping ensure children in need have reliable meals each week.

Father Michael took a moment to thank Pack 742 directly, noting that our donations have been so strong that Backpack Buddies didn’t have to pull from storage for several items. What a testament to the generosity of our Scouting families!

👉 For October, our drive is focused on fruit cups and applesauce cups (no Jell-O). Fruit cups can be in syrup or water — both are welcome.

We’re proud to serve our community and grateful for the chance to live out the Scouting spirit through service. 💛💙

🥫 Snack Cracker Sunday – Supporting Backpack Buddies!

Each month, Pack 742 and Troop 742 aim to collect 742 items to support the Backpack Buddies ministry at St. George's Episcopal Church of Summerville — a program that helps provide food to children in need right here in our community.

This month, we focused on Lance-style snack cracker packs, and thanks to the generosity of our families, we collected approximately 500 packs to donate!

Four of our Scouts proudly represented the pack by delivering the donations this past Sunday during “Snack Cracker Sunday.” We’re incredibly proud of their service — and we’re so grateful to everyone who contributed.

🙏 A special thank you to St. George’s Episcopal Church for the amazing work they do. We’re honored to partner with them each month to support this meaningful cause.

📬 Want to help out next month? Send us a message to learn how your family can get involved!

🚶‍♂️ Pack 742 Hits the Trail at ACE Basin!

This past Saturday, our Cub Scouts, Den Chiefs, and families laced up their boots for a beautiful hike at ACE Basin National Wildlife Refuge.

We had an incredible turnout — 10 Scouts, 4 Den Chiefs, 1 Dragon Scout, and 10 adults — all exploring the scenic marshes, learning about the local ecosystem, and enjoying time outdoors together.

Most of the group hiked a solid 2 miles, while a few pushed further for a total of 2.86 miles. Along the way, we were lucky enough to spot a Great Blue Heron wading through the reeds — a quiet reminder of the amazing wildlife right in our backyard.

We love getting out in nature as a pack — and if your family is looking for a group that blends adventure, learning, and friendship, we’d love to have you join us.

🍇 Mission Accomplished – August Backpack Buddies Drive!

Each month, Pack 742 and Troop 742 team up to support the Backpack Buddies outreach program at St. George's Episcopal Church of Summerville helping provide weekend food bags for local children in need.

For August’s “Fruit Chewy Sunday,” our goal was to donate 742 individually wrapped fruit snacks—and thanks to the generosity of our Scouts and families, we exceeded that goal with a total of 780 packs donated! 🙌

The items were delivered on Sunday, August 31, right on time, by one of our dedicated and loyal AOL Scouts, Holden, who proudly represented both the Pack and the Troop.

A huge thank-you to everyone who contributed to making this month’s drive a success. Your continued support helps us live out the values of the Scout Law and make a meaningful impact in our community—one small act of service at a time.

Stay tuned for September’s service drive, coming soon!

🌲 Celebrating National Park Service Founders Day – August 25th 🌲

Today marks the anniversary of the creation of the National Park Service in 1916, a day dedicated to preserving the incredible landscapes and historic treasures that make our country special. Thanks to the NPS, we can explore mountains, forests, rivers, and wildlife—all protected for generations to come.

In Cub Scouts, we share that same spirit of adventure and conservation. Whether it’s a hike, a campout, or a visit to a nearby park, we learn to care for nature and leave no trace. Let’s celebrate by spending time outdoors, appreciating the beauty around us, and teaching our Scouts why protecting these places matters.

Drop a photo in the comments of your family enjoying a park—local, state, or national—and let’s see where the adventure takes you!

Happy World Photography Day! 📸

Today is all about celebrating the art of capturing moments that last a lifetime. In Scouting, some of our best memories are the ones snapped on campouts, hikes, Pinewood Derby races, and pack adventures. Every picture tells a story of friendship, teamwork, and discovery in the great outdoors.

We encourage all our Pack 742 families to take a moment today to share your favorite Scouting photo—whether it’s a proud smile in uniform, a campfire under the stars, or a silly moment with your den. Let’s fill the comments with the snapshots that remind us why Scouting is such an adventure!
