Sturbridge CERT had a busy weekend. We enjoyed assisting our Charlton neighbors with their fireworks yesterday evening and Old Home Day today.

We also assisted at the Sturbridge Fall Bonfire which is always a good time- next time, who's bringing the giant marshmallows?? 👀 🤫

While both days had some... light... precipitation ☔️ CERT comes prepared for the task. It was also great to see Auburn CERT, Warren West Brookfield CERT Team and Worcester CERT this weekend!

Sturbridge, Charlton, Auburn, and Warren West Brookfield CERT Team, CERT teams were happy to assist during the OSV Fireworks Saturday evening. All CERT members are volunteers who choose to use their time to assist their communities. They are greatly appreciated!!

We enjoyed talking with everyone who came up to our safety and assistance booth. Luckily no one needed anything more than a fun conversation! - and we are extra good at those 😉

Thank you Old Sturbridge Village for having us!

Sturbridge has some of the best public safety officials around. Today Sturbridge C.E.R.T. joined Sturbridge Police Department and Sturbridge Fire Department in our annual National Night Out, connecting public safety with the public. CERT staffed a booth to teach disaster preparedness as well as monitored safety throughout the event...we also gave out cotton candy. We hope you had fun! Also in this photo is Police Chief/Emergency Management Director Dessert, Emergency Management Coordinator Wyke, and Animal Control Officer Connors.

The American Red Cross is alerting the public about an emergency blood shortage as the blood supply fell nearly 25% in June. The shortage is especially serious for types O positive and B negative blood.

If you want to help save lives, you can do the following:
*Schedule your blood or platelet donation today using the Blood Donor App (https://www.redcrossblood.org/blood-donor-app.html), by visiting RedCrossBlood.org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
*Consider hosting a Red Cross blood drive. If you know of someone who is willing to sponsor a blood drive, please ask them to submit their information at RedCrossBlood.org/HostADrive.
*Share this post and spread the word! Thank you all.

Last Wednesday and Sunday, Sturbridge CERT had the opportunity to assist Leominster Emergency Management with their world cup watch parties. Thank you for having us!

Also assisting were CERT members from Charlton CERT and Holden Cert. Once again, we enjoy being able to provide support and learn from others. This is how we continue to develop our vast skill set to better serve our community.

🚨MISSING 16 YEAR OLD MALE IN MONSON🚨

As of right now, the best things you can do are to spread the word, check any sheds/outbuildings on your property, and check any cameras you may have (critically helpful). Rogue search parties and untrained civilians can cause chaos to the organized search effort and destroy evidence (too many feet). Stationary eyes, however, are tremendously helpful. That's why countries build watchtowers!

If you see anything, please contact the Monson Police Department at (413) 893-9500. Thanks all.
