Sometimes, we forget exactly WHY we Scout, and then we see a picture like this. 12 Cub Scouts from Pack 3304 completed the requirements to earn their rank and advance along their Scouting journey. Congratulations Scouts!

Before it became Ohio's only national park, much of this land was a toxic waste dumping ground. That transformation alone makes Cuyahoga Valley National Park one of the more extraordinary environmental stories in the country. Stretching 32,783 acres along 22 miles of the Cuyahoga River between Akron and Cleveland, the park was first designated a National Recreation Area in 1974 and redesignated as a full national park in 2000, the only park in the country to make that transition. The valley was carved by a retreating glacier roughly 13,000 years ago and sits on bedrock dating back 400 million years, when Ohio lay just south of the equator beneath an ancient sea; fossils of Dunkleosteus, a nearly 40-foot armored prehistoric fish, have been recovered here.

The Ohio and Erie Canal ran through the valley in the 1800s, and its towpath trail still winds through the park today alongside forests, wetlands, and sandstone ledges. Brandywine Falls, a 65-foot cascade over layered rock, is the park's most visited spot, and the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad offers historic train rides through the landscape in every season. With over 125 miles of trails, kayaking, skiing, and nearly 3 million annual visitors, it is one of the most visited national parks in America.
