Join the Moshannon Creek Watershed Association for a free native seedling giveaway on Saturday, October 3 from 9:00 a.m. to noon at Cold Stream Park.

While supplies last!

Come pick up free native trees and shrubs perfect for your yard or property, including Allegheny Serviceberry, Flowering Dogwood, Sugar Maple, Redbud, White Oak, Northern Red Oak, Spicebush, and many more.

Last week, CBICC’s Greg Scott and Todd Dolbin had a great visit with Elizabeth Crisfield, ClearWater Conservancy Executive Director, at the site of their new headquarters in Houserville.

We appreciate the opportunity to catch up with Elizabeth and get a firsthand look at the progress being made on what is going to be a fantastic new facility. It’s exciting to see this project taking shape and to hear more about how the new space will support Clearwater's important work throughout Centre County and our region.

Congratulations to ClearWater Conservancy on this exciting investment in its future and our community, and to Alexander Building Construction and everyone involved in bringing the vision to life.

We look forward to seeing the finished product!

After seven decades of working and enjoying watching the seasons change in the fields and woods of his 170-acre property in Boalsburg, Jeff Biddle permanently preserved Bear Meadows Farm last month through the finalization of a conservation easement held by the Centre County Farmland Trust.

The easement, which ClearWater helped secure by assisting with technical and legal work, easement documents, mapping and fieldwork, protects and benefits water and air quality, wildlife habitat, scenic views, agricultural soils and air quality now and for all future generations.

Through GIANT and Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful Healing the Planet grant program, we are the lucky recipient of a $2,720 grant to help fund planting native perennial beds at the new Hamer Community Conservation Center. Thank you, GIANT and Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful, for supporting native planting projects like ours!

Community plantings foster shared responsibility and stewardship, strengthening social ties. Native species provide food and shelter for local wildlife, improve water conservation, provide protection from soil erosion and can survive with minimal care.

We’re excited to share that ClearWater’s new website is officially live, with a refreshed look, updated menu options, and new features waiting for you to explore and enjoy.

This exciting update follows the organization’s recent rebrand while highlighting the year-round work behind our strategic approach to conserve and restore our region’s natural resources.

You’ll find the updated site includes some great new features, including:

- An interactive map of our land protection projects made possible by a collaboration with Penn State’s GeoGraphics

- A page for each of our landscape initiatives, including Rockview

- A page dedicated to conservation projects that are publicly accessible

- Intuitive design and menu options that make it easy to explore the topics you're most interested in and discover how you can get involved in local environmental conservation.

By elevating our digital presence we are better able to reach, serve, and inform all those engaged and interested in advancing ClearWater’s mission. Thank you for your support as our organization continues to grow.

Next week, ClearWater’s new website officially launches and one of our favorite new features is a comprehensive, interactive map of all 50 sites we’ve conserved, helped facilitate, and own across Central PA.

This is an amazing way to explore where and how our work is accomplished, one site at a time.

This map was designed and produced by the GeoGraphics Lab at Penn State Department of Geography’s Peter R. Gould Center for Geography Education and Outreach. Huge thanks to lab cartographers Harry Yu and Harman Singh, and facility supervisor Alicia Adelle Iverson, for bringing this vision to life!
