Shabbike shalom, hey! Meet at MaTovu at 6:30 pm for a Shabbat-themed Friday nightbike ride. The route is TBD, but expect to ride about 10-15 miles in total. Along the way we’ll light Shabbat candles, drink wine, eat challah, and eventually land at a Shabbat dinner. Please come prepared with a working bike, helmet, and fully charged lights. Builder Profile: Carly Ferdman

Over the last couple of years, MaTovu has helped me build relationships with young Jewish families, celebrate the holidays in community, explore my own Judaism, and lean into my Jewish values of Tikkun Olam and Doikayt. I’m so thankful to MaTovu for helping me build a loving and supportive Jewish community right in my neighborhood!

Join us for a discussion with Jacqueline D’Auria, a recent participant in the Center for Jewish Nonviolence’s Olive Harvest program. Through this initiative, volunteers like Jacqueline accompany Palestinian farmers and families during the annual olive harvest, helping with the harvest itself, serving as a solidarity presence in the face of potential settler violence, and documenting incidents when necessary.

The olive harvest holds deep significance in Palestinian society, playing a vital role in both cultural heritage and the agricultural economy. Tens of thousands of Palestinian families rely on the harvest as a primary source of income. An important element of the program is inviting participants to share their experiences afterward, helping broaden understanding of the realities they witnessed and the impact that Jewish- Palestinian solidarity can have.

Jacqueline is a retired teacher originally from St. Louis who now lives in Alaska. We hope you will join us to learn more about the Center for Jewish Nonviolence’s work, hear about Jacqueline’s experiences, and take part in this conversation.

Thanks to everyone who joined us at MaTovu to celebrate Shavuot as we explored the intersections of Jewish spirituality, the natural world, and ancestral wisdom with our incredible facilitator, Rachel Binstock! We’re especially grateful for Rachel’s explanation of earth-based Judaism, the meaningful conversations, and of course, delicious cheesecake!

Join us for joyful davening and dinner to welcome Shabbat! MaTovu is carrying forward Ashreinu’s style of traditional egalitarian Shabbat services.
As usual, we will provide siddurim with full transliteration and translation, as well as a vegetarian dinner, challah, and a little wine/grape juice. You are welcome to bring drinks and desserts to share, if you’d like!

Children are welcome to participate in the service, run around in the back of the room, or use MaTovu’s front conference room (under parent/guardian supervision) to hang out and use our art supplies or bring your own toys to play with.

Our Torah on Tap series usually takes us to breweries and bars around St. Louis, but this month we brought the brews and conversation home to MaTovu! There was something special about gathering in our own space to dive into thoughtful discussion together. Great conversations, good company, and a reminder of the community we’re continuing to build.
