Southampton Neighborhood Association

Southampton Neighborhood Association Southampton is a charming neighborhood of tree-lined streets, a "main street" district, and Neo-Tudor, Brick Arts & Crafts, and Four Square housing styles.

The Southampton Neighborhood (SoHa) is a peaceful, charming 1-square mile neighborhood of tree-lined streets featuring a variety of housing styles, friendly plant-filled porches, art glass and hardwood floors. A vibrant business district along Macklind Avenue provides an attractive “Main Street” commercial component to compliment the residential character of the area. Within walking distance are c

afés, delis, restaurants, art studio and gallery, live theatre, banks, grocery stores, florists, dry cleaners, hair salons, fitness and wellness centers, professional offices, auto repair, parks, a library and churches. Southampton was voted the #1 Place to Live in the St. Louis Metro Area by the Riverfront Times editorial staff in 2009 and is rated as one of the top residential choices for families in the 25-35 age bracket according to the United States Census. Another great advantage to Southampton living is low crime, watchful and friendly neighbors, and convenience to public transportation, St. Louis' world-class cultural institutions and Forest Park.

UPDATE: Work on the Kingshighway Traffic Safety Project continues. Find below a summary update as of August 15.

The update is based on information provided by the City's Board of Public Service. BPS is managing the project.

We recognize the Kingshighway construction is extensive and inconvenient. I know the project is affecting your schedules and routines. My ask: pease remain patient as our crews and contractors put the plan in place.

Golf carts seem to be everywhere... at least in our neck of the woods. Folks use them to get around the neighborhood, drop kids at school, and visit the corner restaurant. Interestingly, there are no regulations specific to driving golf carts on City streets.

Last Thursday we filed legislation to address the ambiguity. The bill recognizes the role golf carts play in our neighborhoods while bringing common sense restrictions to cart use.

Many of you are golf cart owners and users. We're interested in hearing your take after reviewing Board Bill 62. Look for it on the Board's site or reach out and we'll send you a copy.
