We held a small ceremony at Riverlands for our two friends and Chapter Members, Larry Conant and Tom Fasl that passed away last year. Two redbud trees were planted last year and this week small plaques were place by them.
We all had fond memories to share.

This will be an exceptional morning- I hope you can join us. The responsibility of plastic pollution has long been the burden of the consumer- YOU AND ME- but it doesn't have to be this way forever.
Let's get together and talk through the issue and land on a few solutions at the local level. This is the magic of local decision making! Join us in Olivette NEXT WEEK!

Spring is a good time to talk about the food web -- plants - caterillars - birds. Why do/should plant lovers care? Many lepidoptera (moths/butterflies) are dependent on a particular plant for survival - they can't eat anything else. So - for example - no milkweeds - no monarchs. You can research different butterflies and moths and see what their host plants are. Many songbirds need caterpillars when they are rearing young, as the babies cannot handle anything other than soft food. Plant natives, don't spray, don't get worried if you have caterpillars eating your plants, don't worry if the birds eat some. Some will survive! This very rare habitat can only be found in southeastern Missouri, and MDC estimates fewer than 2,000 acres of this habitat exists today.

I visited Strawberry Creek Nature Area yesterday. I've driven by it numerous times and finally went there for a small hike. The trail markers are not real clear and I think it occasionally needs a sign that directs you back toward the parking lott. It is around a power line cut and Strawberry Creek. It is off of Upper Tenbrook Road in Arnold. The trail are typically up and down and runs around a mile depending on which one you take. I got a little lost so it was about 1.5 miles.
