🌟 WEEK ONE...WHAT A WEEK! 🌟
What an unforgettable first week at The WAY Center - Future Voices: STREAM'ing Change Summer Camp! 💙💛
Our young scholars showed up every day ready to learn, explore, create, and lead. We packed so much into one week, and their curiosity, teamwork, and joy made every moment worthwhile!
Here's just a glimpse of what we accomplished:
🧪 Explored the Scientific Method through hands-on experiments and field trip to the Science Center!
🎨 Created beautiful artwork and caricatures with Ms. Jas Jasmyn Diggs
🌱 Learned about agriculture and healthy foods with Mr. Trey L Scott
📖 Read and reflected on The Dot, discovering that every person can make a difference!
🗳️ Learned about local, state, and federal elections, cast votes, and practiced CIVIC JOY with Ms. B
🌈 Created colorful tie-dye shirts
🎲 Strengthened math skills through games and challenges
📚 Practiced reading, writing, cursive, and problem-solving
🏀 Enjoyed lots of outdoor play, movement, and teamwork - 3 recesses per day!
🍽️ Shared delicious lunches (and even went back for seconds and thirds!)
💙 Built friendships, confidence, and community
Most importantly, our Future Voices learned that their ideas matter, their voices matter, and they each have the power to create positive change in the world.
As we head into our final week, we'll continue building, creating, and preparing for our Family Gallery Walk on Friday, where our scholars will proudly showcase everything they've accomplished with their families.
Thank you to our incredible families for trusting us with your children, and thank you to our amazing teachers, volunteers, and community partners for pouring into them every single day.
Week One was amazing...Week Two, here we come! 💙🌟
