We provide free parent workshops, parent and child playgroups and family literacy activities throughout the city. Home City Families also provides information and referrals t

Happy International Day of Play! 🌟 🎈

From infancy on, play is an important part of a child’s life. For babies and toddlers, simple, playful interactions with adults support brain development, the foundations of lifelong health, and the building blocks of resilience. Play is also a great way for children to practice and strengthen executive function skills, including focusing their attention, improving their memory, and developing basic self-control.

💦 Splash Pads Opening Early for Summer 2026! 💦

To help residents stay cool during the recent stretch of hot weather, the Springfield Parks & Recreation Department will open splash pads throughout the city earlier than usual, beginning Thursday, June 11, 2026.

Splash pads (also known as sprayscapes or sprinklers) are typically activated on the last day of the school year, but due to the excessive heat, most locations will be available for families to enjoy starting this week.

🕙 Hours of Operation: Daily from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
