We believe more people need to know that you can have an eviction record even if you’ve never actually been evicted!

For example, if you lived with your parents and they had an eviction case, your name could have been included even if you weren’t on the lease or responsible for rent.

And that record could affect you years later when you’re trying to find housing!

The good news is you can check your Housing Court record here: bit.ly/CheckMyHousingRecord

And if you do have a record, Springfield No One Leaves is hosting a free eviction record sealing clinic on November 5, from 4 to 6:30 PM, at Lilly Library in Florence.

Here’s the registration link: bit.ly/SealClinicNov

If you’re currently having issues with your landlord or worried about eviction, you can contact Liz at Arise at 413-734-4948 or [email protected].

Please share! You never know who might need this information.

Christopher Columbus doesn’t need more attention.

Today and always, we’re giving that attention to the Indigenous peoples who were here long before him and whose communities, cultures, and traditions continue to thrive today.

Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day!

Just thinking......
For the first time since WWII the US government/federal/military justice system is planning a Military ex*****on. By firing squad. The most jaw dropping aspect for me is now they want to livestream it.
Whether you are pro/con/somewhere in between the death penalty if they do actually stream the ex*****on.....
Are you going to watch? Why or why not?
Would you feel compelled to witness a historical milestone? Would it be to stand as a witness to an outrage? Would it be to witness justice for those he killed?

What do you think?

Reform? Revolution? Working within the system? Building power outside of it?

Arise and River Valley PSL are talking through what those differences actually mean, and what it could look like for everyday people to have more power over the decisions that shape their lives.

Want to go deeper?

Socialist Reconstruction: A Better Future for the United States by the PSL is available online through 1804 Books and Olive Tree Books-n-Voices, Springfield’s Black-owned independent bookstore!

Afternoon folks
My DIL is in town for a few weeks and would love to make a bit of money while here. Lots of experience with office skills including but not limited too medical billing/coding, factory/inventory management, data entry and office management. Of course as we all know these skills are translatable and useable for smaller things like help organizing old files, kind of a one and done thing that truthfully would never get done otherwise.
Or you have a last minute push for a campaign & need a hand in juggling temporary office chaos.
Or a setting up a simple inventory type thing you can take over.
So please keep her in mind and give me a shout. Thanks
Liz

Just thinking about my drive to work yesterday... I noticed a few bright pink door notices. If you've lived in the area long enough you know it's the water company calling. Bright pink...14 day shut-off notice. Then it's a Red one any day shut-off.
It got me to remembering being a tenant and my LL didn't/wouldn't, not couldn't pay the bill.
Anyway the long and short of it is...If you are a tenant and your landlord is responsible for paying the water bill hasn't and you receive a pink notice let the LL know. A.S.A.P.
If you receive a red notice!
RUN don't walk to Housing Court file for an injunction against the city water department to prevent them from shutting-off your water.
How the city gets it's money from the landlord is their business, not yours as the tenant.

We get it. Those bills can be confusing.

Molly can help you figure out what you’re actually paying for, whether you qualify for a discount, ways you could save energy, and what your options are if you’re worried about a shut-off.

Just bring your bill to Arise every other Friday from 10 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. No appointment needed!
