The 2025-2026 Queen City Sertoma Service to Mankind Award is presented to Chad Porter in honor of his contributions to community service.
Chad Porter is the son of Steve and Chris Porter. Chad is a committed family man; his role as a father is incredibly important to him. He is married to Kayla and is the proud parent of two daughters, Adelynn, 16, and Makenna, 13. They reside in their beautiful new home outside of Rogersville.
Chad was born and raised in Rogersville. He is a 1998 graduate and an honor student of Logan-Rogersville Schools. Chad's extracurricular activities included serving as a Letterman in football and as a member of both the LR concert band and the Future Farmers of America. Chad was awarded an A+ scholarship, which enabled him to earn an associate's degree. And later, a general education, AA degree.
Chad's early career began as a manager at Pizza Inn in Rogersville, followed by Cox Food Service. Chad is currently employed by Trane. After 18 years of service, Chad has held multiple positions, growing himself from a Building Automation Technician. Project Manager, Area Manager, and now to Accounting Manager In Controls at the Springfield facility.
Chad has undergone comprehensive training and management and sales at Trane; he has earned numerous awards, including the prestigious Control Sales Elite Club and The Top Sales Award.
Chad has also traveled during this training process.
Chad holds memberships in both Masonic and Shrine organizations, significantly with Henderson Lodge #477 in Rogersville.
His dedication to the Masonic order is highlighted by his three terms as Worshipful Master, during which he has filled all the roles as a Mason. Chad's Henderson Lodge has partnered with the Masonic Home to aid the LR band in acquiring new instruments through a partnership program. Additionally, the lodge collaborates with Rogersville's PTA to organize a shoe drive, providing quality shoes for all the kids to promote pride and self-esteem, a role Chad organizes.
Furthermore, the lodge awards scholarships to LR seniors in Future Farmers of America, where Chad serves as a presenter at the annual awards ceremony.
As a Shriner, he is associated with About Ben Adhem. Chad's commitment to community service is further demonstrated through his membership in the Christian County Shrine and its cook team, which caters to various local events and functions at the Shrine, including a notable Thanksgiving meal for the elderly in Fordland, Missouri.
He also dedicates time to the Rollin Nobles Roads Car Club, participating in and showing their vintage cars in car show fundraisers.
Recently, Chad became a part of the Hospital Dads, engaging in activities such as the minivan go-kart events. After restoring his own minivan, Chad participates in local parades, often drawing attention for his height relative to his tiny vehicle.
As a Hospital Dad, Chad has transported children and their families to the Shrine Hospital in St. Louis and has been instrumental in facilitating care for 3 children, for which he received the Crutches Award.
Chad is very involved in his daughter's school activities. As a parent of a flute player in the LR marching band, Chad is deeply engaged with the band booster club. The band's schedule includes early-morning practices and frequent travel to competitions, which demands consistent parental support. Chad delivers the uniform trailer to events, lends a hand with props and construction, and is often present for setup and teardown, including during inclement weather.
His dedication extends beyond his own time, as his family participates alongside him. Chad and Kayla both contribute significantly to the band's efforts, donating not only hours but drinks and food for the students and staff. Chad offers transportation to the directors using his side-by-side to transport them to and from performance areas at competitions. His family helps move the percussion group to the performance area.
Chad's eldest daughter is also a member of a rock band at Feedback School of Music in Springfield, where she has learned to play the bass guitar. This organization receives considerable support from Chad and his family. Chad takes pride in her accomplishments.
His youngest participation in gymnastics in Springfield and cheer at LR. Chad enjoys her flipping through the air and cheering for her team. The Porters ensure their daughter's activities are supported and often travel in different directions.
Believe it or not, in Chad's spare time, he restores a 1964 Ford Galaxy, and he is a skilled musician, having taught himself to play guitar and drums. He includes his family in attending local concerts, sometimes just him and one of his daughters. His greatest joy is to witness his oldest successfully achieve her musical skills and his youngest enthusiastically performing aerial stunts as a cheerleader.
Queen City Sertoma proudly presents this award of recognition to Chad Porter in appreciation of his dedication to community service above and beyond.
