September is National Recovery Month — and we can't wait to celebrate our community.

But here's the truth we hold onto all year long: recovery isn't just something to celebrate in September. It's something happening every single day, in quiet and courageous ways, all around us.

We see you. We're proud of you. 🌻

This image reminds us that our words and actions matter. Think back to your recovery journey: What is one act of encouragement, kindness or help that made a difference for you? Your story might be exactly what someone else needs to hear today.

As we approach International Overdose Awareness Day on August 31, we want to pause and simply say:

We remember.

Every person lost to overdose was someone's child, parent, sibling, friend. They had a name. They had a story. Their death was not inevitable.

If you'd like to share the name or memory of someone you've lost, we welcome that in the comments. 💜 You don't have to keep their memory to yourself.

Missouri has a Good Samaritan Law — and it's important to know about.

It means that if you call 911 for an overdose, you have legal protection. You should not let fear of legal consequences stop you from calling for help.

A phone call can save a life. Please make it. 📞

For more on Missouri's law and your rights, talk to us at the Springfield Recovery Community Center or Better Life in Recovery or visit samhsa.gov.

Finding the right recovery housing can make a huge difference in someone's recovery journey. But how do you know if a recovery house is safe, reputable, and truly focused on helping people build a better life?

In this episode of the Movement Podcast, David Stoecker sits down with Alon Fisch, founder of New Beginning Sanctuary, to talk about what quality recovery housing really looks like.

They discuss:

🏠 What NARR certification means
🔍 How to research a recovery house before moving in
🤝 Why accountability and responsibility are essential in recovery
💰 The truth about the cost of operating recovery housing
❤️ Why collaboration—not competition—is so important in the recovery community
🐾 What it really takes to create a safe, supportive environment where people can grow

Whether you're in recovery, looking for recovery, supporting someone with a substance use disorder, or working in the mental health or recovery field, this is an important conversation.

Recovery is more than just having a place to live. It's about finding the right environment, support, accountability, and community to help you build a better life.

Today is National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day. 💜

Fentanyl test strips can detect the presence of fentanyl in substances before use — and they save lives. Naloxone can reverse a fentanyl overdose if administered quickly.

Both of these tools are part of a harm reduction approach that says: every life is worth protecting, no matter where someone is in their journey.

If you want to know more about fentanyl test strips or naloxone access in our community, reach out to us. We're here to help.
