We want to send a heartfelt thank you to each of you for being such a wonderful part of our fresh food giveaway, which wrapped up on October 3rd!

To ensure we can keep supporting as many of our amazing neighbors as possible, we are temporarily transitioning to appointment-based distributions. While our supplies are currently a bit low, we are doing everything we can to help. Please feel free to call or text us at 217-900-0876 to schedule a time!

We are so excited to be teaming up with wonderful community partners to bring in even more fresh produce, with the goal of returning to our year-round free giveaways by late winter. We truly appreciate your understanding with this temporary shift and look forward to sharing great updates with you soon.

Additionally, we are expanding our capacity to support more community members, as well as offering year-round volunteering and tour opportunities.

We can’t wait to welcome you back for our regular two-day distribution (Wednesdays and Fridays) by the end of June 2027. Thank you again for your warmth, patience, and incredible support as we care for our community together!

Our wonderful partners at HSHS St. John's, Springfield Memorial Hospital, and the Sangamon County Health Department have officially launched their newest Community Health Survey!

As nonprofit health systems, HSHS St. John's and Memorial Health rely on this valuable feedback to truly understand our local health priorities and quality-of-life concerns. Your thoughtful insights help guide their Community Health Implementation Plan, ensuring support and resources go right where they're needed most.

Thanks to past community input, amazing local initiatives have come to life—like the free community mental health advocate training in Springfield that helps reduce stigma and expand access to care!

“Community input is essential to understanding the health issues that affect our region,” shared Angela Stoltzenburg, director of Community Health. “The feedback we receive helps us make informed decisions and develop programs that improve access to care, address community priorities, and support better health outcomes for everyone.”

Taking just a few minutes to share your thoughts will help shape future health programs and support our shared mission of building healthier, stronger communities together.

We were honored to work with this wonderful team.

DOA PROJECT: Motherland Gardens Community Project

Volunteers from bankwithBOS, Heartland Credit Union, BJ Grand Salon and Spa, Ameren Illinois and the community came together to tackle projects throughout the growing space- from clearing overgrown areas and adding compost to harvesting seeds, preparing future planting spaces, tending fruit trees and grapevines and cleaning up the property.

Thank you to every volunteer who showed up for Motherland Gardens and helped prepare this community space for what comes next! ❤️💙💛

A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful 30+ volunteers who came out today for the Fall Day of Action with United Way of Central IL. Your help getting us ready for tomorrow means the world to us, and the wonderful photos truly capture the spirit of the day!


We are so excited that our October 3rd event is less than 14 hours away!

Here is a quick look at the wonderful activities we have planned for you:

- A free, delicious barbecue featuring our special homemade Umami mix
- Friendly guided tours of our newly upgraded cold storage and high-tunnel facilities
- Sweet local honey, seeded watermelon, butternut squash and our signature spice blends available for purchase.
- A delightful live demonstration with our lovely goats and roosters.
- Free fresh produce for everyone to take home and enjoy.
- Wonderful insights into our 10+ core community programs.

Our Fall Day of Action is right around the corner, and we’d love for you to join us on Friday, October 2, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.!

It is going to be a wonderful afternoon of community service alongside more than 27 amazing members from our partner organizations. Whether you come on your own, bring a friend, or gather a team from work, we would be so grateful for your support in fulfilling our mission.

To celebrate community building and friendship while we roll up our sleeves, we’ll also be hosting a delicious BBQ for everyone to enjoy.
