Stage West Playhouse and Director Michelle Root are excited to announce auditions for Candy Cane Chaos 2: The Great Glitter Disaster, an original Christmas comedy by Michelle Root.

ABOUT THE SHOW
Santa and Mrs. Claus have finally taken a much-needed vacation, leaving Holly and Norman in charge of the North Pole. Holly is determined to prove she can handle the responsibility, and Norman is equally determined to prove that his candy-cane catastrophe days are behind him.
And everything is going surprisingly well...until Sparkles decides Christmas needs a little more sparkle.
This show is a sequel so many roles will be recast with the previous actors but you MUST show up at auditions to reclaim your role. There are plenty of new roles as well so we encourage everyone to come out and give it a shot.
ADULT ROLES
MRS. CLAUS
Warm, funny and unmistakably Mrs. C. She and Santa are enjoying a tropical second honeymoon, but she continues checking in on the North Pole to make sure Holly and Norman really do have everything under control.
SANTA CLAUS
Santa is supposed to be relaxing on vacation with Mrs. Claus. The problem is, Santa isn't particularly good at relaxing. A fun supporting role with plenty of opportunities for comedy.
BUTTONS
The youngest elf at the North Pole—played by an adult! Elves age backward, so although Buttons looks like an adult, Buttons is only about six in elf years and deeply resents being treated like a child. A quirky character role with lots of comic potential.
YOUTH ROLES — AGES 10–18
HOLLY
Kind, organized and much more confident than she was last Christmas. Santa and Mrs. Claus have trusted Holly and Norman with running the North Pole while they're away, and Holly is determined to prove they're ready for the responsibility.
NORMAN
Lovable, enthusiastic and occasionally awkward. Norman has found some confidence since discovering his musical talent, and he desperately wants everyone to know that he is no longer the elf who destroys everything. Unfortunately, chaos seems to have a way of finding him anyway.
SPARKLES
Bossy, dramatic, stubborn and completely convinced that every idea she has is brilliant. This Christmas, Sparkles decides that every present needs a surprise burst of glitter. What could possibly go wrong?
TWINKLE
One half of a pair of twin elves who have always spoken, moved and worked in perfect unison. But this Christmas, Twinkle is starting to go rogue. She's discovering that she might actually like having her own ideas and doing things her own way.
WINKLE
Twinkle's twin and longtime other half. Winkle is perfectly happy with the way things have always been and isn't quite prepared when Twinkle suddenly starts thinking—and acting—for herself. Twinkle and Winkle are great roles for two performers with strong comic timing who can work closely together.
MISTLEYTOES
Enthusiastic, curious and very easily distracted. Mistleytoes brings plenty of energy to the workshop—and doesn't always stay focused on what she's supposed to be doing.
NOEL
Easygoing, funny and frequently the voice of reason. In this particular group of elves, being the voice of reason is not always an easy job.
JINGLES
The self-appointed North Pole Safety Officer. Jingles goes practically nowhere without a clipboard and has developed an elaborate emergency classification system for every possible North Pole disaster. With this crew, Jingles gets plenty of opportunities to use it.
TINSEL
Cheerful, sweet and always willing to help—even before finding out exactly what the job is. Tinsel enthusiastically jumps into whatever is happening, which isn't always the safest choice at the North Pole.
THE NOT-SO-MERRY CAROLERS
These three familiar troublemakers are back! The Not-So-Merry Carolers begin the show seated among the audience and aren't shy about commenting on what's happening onstage. These are especially fun roles for confident performers who enjoy comedy, improvisational energy and interacting with an audience.
SPRIG
Sarcastic, mischievous and delighted whenever things go wrong. Sprig is always ready with a comment from the audience and thoroughly enjoys watching North Pole chaos unfold.
TUPPENCE
Cranky, opinionated and an experienced audience heckler. Tuppence has plenty to say about what is happening—and absolutely no problem saying it out loud.
FLURRY
Big, loud and wonderfully physical. Flurry may be intimidating at first glance, but there's one very reliable way to win Flurry over: cookies. A great role for a performer who enjoys broad physical comedy.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT AUDITIONS
Auditions will include cold readings from the script as well as singing some familiar Christmas carols. You do not need to prepare a song in advance.
We're looking for performers who are willing to make strong character choices, have fun, work as part of an ensemble and embrace the wonderfully ridiculous world of the North Pole.
Previous theater experience is not required.
