Palisades Tahoe recently hosted local high school students for a behind-the-scenes Work Tour.

The Work Tour program highlights real careers on the mountain — from lift operations to mechanics — with students getting the chance to get hands-on with snowcats and heavy equipment and experience the many careers that keep a mountain running. They also heard from industry pros about career paths, apprenticeships, and turning passion into profession. Some former participants are already on the team, building careers where they grew up skiing and riding.

If you’re interested in turning your passion into a career, reach out to your local resort to learn about programs they may have to give you the jump start you need.

Nice work , inspiring the next generation of mountain leaders!

Big congratulations to two of s standout leaders on being honored with a 2026 SAMMY Leadership Award 👏

Ben Smith of Mountain High Resorts and Kari Brandt of Sugar Bowl Resort have been recognized by their peers for the way they lead—thoughtfully, actively, and with a genuine focus on people.

Their impact reaches far beyond their own mountains, helping shape a stronger, more connected resort industry as a whole.

They show up, they lift others, and they lead with a rare balance of humility, intention, and follow-through.

Ski California celebrates not only these two incredible leaders, but all of this year’s nominees and winners. Your dedication and meaningful contributions continue to move our industry forward.

Bluebird skies, soft snow, and those legendary t-shirt laps have arrived across CA + NV. Parking lots turn into tailgates, goggles get swapped for sunglasses, and every run feels like a victory lap.

But while the sun is shining, safety is still in season.

As you soak up the spring conditions, remember to follow the Responsibility Code:
⛷️ Stay in control
⛷️ People downhill have the right of way
⛷️ Stop where you are visible
⛷️ Look uphill before starting or merging
⛷️ Respect all signs and closures

Spring skiing is all about good turns, good friends, and good decisions.

The snow is stacking up across CA + NV, and the stoke (and risks) are at an all-time high, which begs the questions — do you know what to do if you get buried in deep snow?

Tree wells and deep snow immersion are real risks, especially on powder days. Acting fast + knowing how to respond if someone goes down headfirst can mean all the difference.

Brush up on deep snow safety before your next run + look out for your crew. Link in bio to our Mountain Safety Guide.

Powder days are the best days—let’s keep them safe ones, too.

🐾❄️ Safety Day is this Saturday, January 24, so we’re shining the spotlight on some of the most heroic members of the mountain safety team — .

These four-legged pros are more than adorable faces with wagging tails. They’re highly trained avalanche rescue dogs who work side-by-side with ski patrollers to mitigate hazards on the mountain. With their powerful noses, unwavering focus, and boundless enthusiasm, patrol dogs can locate people missing or buried in snow in minutes — making them true lifesavers when every second counts.

Check out your local mountain’s event calendar for information on how they are supporting Safety Day, and give a round of paws and an ear scratch to our patrol dogs — the goodest boys and girls on the mountain. 🐾👏

This season, when the storms line up — so does the forecast!

Ski California is proud to partner with OpenSnow as the official source of its snow forecasts, led by Sierra forecasting legend, Brian Allegretto.

For more than two decades, BA’s daily, detailed forecasts have become the beacon by which people make informed decisions about where and when they want to recreate in snow across CA and NV and his trusted predictions have helped resorts prepare for operations during storm cycles.

We’re excited to align with to bring reliable snow insights to everyone who slides, because accurate snow forecasts matter — for skiers, riders, and the resorts that make it all happen!
