Last week, our Founder, Sean Fannan, joined an incredible panel at the Tahoe Prosperity Center Economic Summit to discuss the future of Tahoe’s Environmental Innovation & Circular Forest Economy.

The conversation explored forest health, biomass utilization, mass timber, workforce pathways, and how communities like ours can create sustainable economic opportunities through innovation and collaboration.

These conversations are deeply connected to the vision behind the Atrium. We believe the future of Tahoe will be built by creating spaces where young people can tinker, prototype, build, and launch ideas that directly impact our community.

As Tahoe continues to evolve, we want local students to see themselves not just as future workers, but as future builders, innovators, and leaders shaping the region they call home.

We got the opportunity to attend and rescue surplus food from the Reno & Tahoe Culinary Expo hosted by Chef's Warehouse on May 6th! There was almost 1,000 pounds of good, fresh, untouched food that fed our community here in South Lake Tahoe. Some of the biggest moments in childhood look really small.
A bedtime story.

A favorite book read for the 47th time.
Tiny fingers turning pages.

A child scooting just a little closer to hear the ending again.
These little moments of reading together are building something powerful: connection, confidence, imagination, and a lifelong love of learning. ❤️📚

That’s why we love bringing free books to children each month through the Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. Because sometimes the smallest moments become the ones children remember forever.

We want to highlight one of our newest FeedTahoe donors: Lazy Bear Bakery Tahoe They have been a wonderful addition to our program! Erica and Gian started Lazy Bear Bakery to share the food they love to make with their community - high-quality, authentic Italian specialties. And from the beginning, they wanted to give back.

'Partnering with Feed Tahoe has been incredibly meaningful because it allows us to provide fresh, high-quality food to people in need while making sure nothing goes to waste. Good food should bring people together - and everyone deserves access to it.'

Better than hitting snooze!

The sun is just coming up at Tahoe Valley Elementary, and South Tahoe High School students are already here, using their zero period to show up for their 3rd grade reading pals.
They check in, read together, and build confidence one page at a time. An hour later, they’re off to start their own school day.

We’re so grateful to serve 10 classrooms and over 60 elementary students through our ReadingPals program!

March was the strongest month so far in 2026 for FeedTahoe. 9,300 meals provided and countless community members supported. We could not be more grateful to every donor, volunteer, recipient, and supporter for making food rescue possible every day in South Lake Tahoe. Big welcome to Joseph Minnich 👏

Joseph joined the Marcella Foundation back in November as our Makerspace Manger—and we’re pretty excited about it!

He’s basically a serial builder of makerspaces—from launching American University’s Design + Build Lab… to founding two makerspaces at Coastal Carolina… to contributing to Case Western’s think[box].

Now he’s bringing that energy to The Atrium 💡

When he’s not building, you’ll find him mountain biking, kayaking, or chasing his next off-the-grid adventure.

We’re so glad you’re here, Joseph!

✨ From Attic to Atrium ✨

We’re excited to share that we’re transforming 970 Lodi Ave. (formerly The Attic) into The Atrium — a new youth and community hub for South Lake Tahoe!

The space will include:
🛠️ A 4,000+ sq ft makerspace built with South Tahoe High School
🥕 An expanded home for FeedTahoe
🍳 A commercial kitchen to support food rescue and culinary classes
🎉 A flexible community space for events and workshops
A place where high school students can make things, try things, and discover what they’re capable of.

Last week at the Career Compass Summit, we shared something brand new - and we can't wait to share it with you very soon!

We’re building something bold in partnership with South Tahoe High School and the Strong Workforce Program — a space designed to take learning beyond the classroom and into hands-on making, entrepreneurship, and real-world problem solving.

Think tools. Mentors. Prototyping. Experimentation. Big ideas turned into something you can actually hold.

It’s going to be free. It’s going to be student-centered. And it’s going to built for the world they’re stepping into.

We’re just getting started, but the vision is big: give students access and watch confidence, curiosity, and purpose take off.
