This year’s Soul Food Luncheon presented by 1st Source Bank was a wonderful time filled with delicious food, meaningful connections, and community fellowship. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this event possible.

A special thank you to our featured speaker and South Bend native, Tracey Jackson, from 16 Tech Innovation and to every sponsor, partner, and guest who joined us at the table. Your support helps advance our work in affordable housing, neighborhood revitalization, and community building.

Residents of South Bend’s Rum Village neighborhood may be able to get free home repairs. The neighborhood is the focus of Rebuilding Together St Joseph County’s 2027 program.

Rebuilding Together St. Joseph County is now accepting applications for FREE home repairs for eligible homeowners in the Rum Village neighborhood for 2027! 🏠 We want to help make homes safer, healthier, and more comfortable for the people who live in them.

Celebrating Local Art & Community! 🖼️

South Bend Heritage was excited to host a free artist reception at the Colfax Cultural Center Gallery, celebrating local artists Dave Allen, Mike Slaski, and Fred Slaski!

Guests enjoyed light refreshments, great company, and an evening filled with art and community. Thank you to everyone who came out and made the event a success! ❤️

The exhibition is still on display through October 23rd! There’s still time to stop by and experience the incredible work of these talented local artists.

Art has always had the power to challenge us, connect us and create space for important conversations. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 2026 Art & Social Justice Reception at the Colfax Cultural Center! This year's exhibition brought together powerful works exploring justice, community, identity and the world around us.

This year's reception was especially meaningful as we took time to honor the life and legacy of Doug Kinsey, who, alongside Jake Webster, established the Art & Social Justice Showcase. We were honored to recognize Doug's wife, Marjorie, and his sister, Dea, and celebrate the lasting impact Doug made on the arts and our community. His vision helped create a space where artists could use their work to speak, challenge, reflect and inspire. This legacy continues through this exhibition today.

🏡 We Love Zoning! 💙

Some people think zoning is boring. Not at South Bend Heritage. We get excited when zoning is used as a tool to create more attainable housing, strengthen neighborhoods, and open doors to opportunity instead of closing them. Big thanks to the South Bend Common Council for unanimously approving our rezoning request for the West Wayne Street Area at last night’s council meeting. Later this year we’ll be constructing two duplexes. We’re also grateful to be working with the City’s Planning Team to finalize the development plan for the entire area. We can’t wait to get started!

Celebrating Older Americans Month with some of the amazing seniors from our Resident Life program 🖤

Recently, this group enjoyed a fun-filled day trip to Chippewa Bowl — sharing laughs, making memories, and building community together. Moments like these remind us that connection, joy, and belonging matter at every age.

We’re grateful to Wells Fargo Trusts and Community Foundation of St. Joseph County for helping make outings and enrichment opportunities like this possible for our seniors.
