Thank you, volunteers!

It was a joy to spend a fall morning working alongside you, then gather around the table for our Volunteer Appreciation Lunch. Thank you to farm manager Jenn for making soup for everyone to share! We loved having time to sit down together and celebrate the people who help keep this farm growing.

This season, over 75 volunteers joined us at Seed to Table. From harvesting and weeding to clearing beds for the next season, your time and care have made a difference on the farm. Whether you came once or returned week after week, thank you for being part of this work.

We have one more chance to get our hands in the soil together!

🎃 Last volunteer day of the season:
Thursday, October 29 · 3–5 PM
Wear your best Halloween farming costume!

Fennel inspection is serious business. 🌿🔎

A table full of fall fennel deserves a good, close look. And then maybe one more. Swipe to see our very thorough inspection process!

A big thank-you to our wholesale partners for helping us move so much of this fun fall crop this week. Their orders support the work happening here on the farm and bring more of what we grow in Sisters to our community. We’re grateful to work with people who make room for local, seasonal produce and help each harvest find its way to more tables.

We’ve tagged some of our partners in the photos. Check them out, give them a follow, and see what they’re up to this fall!

New Seed to Table Oregon tees are here, and you’ve got one last chance to snag yours! 🌱

Find them at the Sisters Farmers Market info booth on October 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.—our last market of the season!

Designed by local artist and longtime friend of the farm Maren Inga Veloso, these tees feature quail, veggies, and a little piece of the farm to take with you. You may recognize Maren’s work from the Sisters Farmers Market poster and the colorful mural at the farm.

Modeled here by the folks who grow your veggies, our new tees come in five colors: Maritime Frost blue and Desert Pink in women’s styles, and Heather Green, Dusty Blue, and Oatmeal in unisex styles. Sizes range from XS to XL.

Come say hello and make a stop at both booths:

What does a classroom look like when it has rows instead of desks?

At Seed to Table Oregon, students learn by digging in—exploring the soil, observing insects and pollinators, harvesting vegetables, tasting new foods, and discovering the connections that make a farm ecosystem thrive.

Our Farm Classroom visits offer school classes and homeschool groups, from Pre-K through high school, 90 minutes of hands-on learning on our working farm. Visits are arranged in advance by classroom teachers or homeschool group organizers.

Depending on the season, age group, and learning goals, students might harvest vegetables and prepare a simple farm-fresh snack, investigate how seeds travel, discover pollinators and decomposers, learn what plants need to grow, or lend a hand with real garden jobs.

Have a particular topic your group is exploring? We’re happy to connect a farm visit to your learning priorities whenever possible.

Farm Classroom visits are offered September–October and April–June.

We want learning on the farm to be accessible to all schools and homeschool groups. If cost is a barrier for your group, please let us know when you inquire.

Learn more and inquire about a Farm Classroom visit for your class or homeschool group by visiting our website: https://www.seedtotableoregon.org/youtheducation

Our carrots have quite the range.

Pull a carrot from the soil and you never quite know what you’ll find. Some grow long, some grow wide, and some seem to have plans of their own. They draw a curious crowd, too—from humans admiring their unusual shapes to a little bunny stopping for a nibble.

Which photo gets your vote?

Spend a fall morning on the farm with us!

Harvesting, weeding, clearing beds—and occasionally finding a wonderfully weird-shaped veggie, like farm team member Chloe did here! You never know what you might unearth while lending a hand.

Volunteers work alongside our farm team to keep Seed to Table growing and prepare for the next season. We’re grateful for the time, energy, and care you bring to this work.

Join us on Tuesday, October 20:
🌿 Volunteer on the farm: 10 AM–12 PM
🍲 Volunteer Appreciation Lunch: 12–1 PM

Come lend a hand, then stay to share a meal and celebrate our volunteer community. Farm manager Jenn will be making soup to share! You’re welcome to bring something to go with it if you’d like.

To sign up, email [email protected].

Thank you to everyone who has helped us grow this season. We look forward to gathering around the table with you!

Our hearts are with the children, families, educators, and everyone affected by the tragedy at Silver Rail Elementary.

This Sunday, we’re opening the farm for families who would like a place to gather, share a warm meal, and spend some time outside together.

Join us at Seed to Table Oregon in Sisters on Sunday, October 18, from 12–3 pm. We’ll have a pot of vegetable soup to share (vegan and gluten-free) and self-guided farm activities, including seed saving, arts and crafts, and caring for the garden.

Drop in whenever you’d like during those hours. Join an activity or simply spend time on the farm. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Families can also spend time together at Sisters Farmers Market, open Sunday from 10 am–2 pm at Fir Street Park in Sisters. The market offers kids’ activities every week, and children can pick up a $5 coupon to choose fresh fruits and vegetables.

Find the farm at the corner of E Black Butte Ave & N Dee Wright St in Sisters. Drive through the gate east of the Seed to Table sign and park along the gravel road on the left. The farm is on private property; please leave any closed gates closed.

You’re welcome here.

Fall on the farm means harvesting what’s ready—and making room for what comes next.

Recently, Sisters High School Life Skills and Transitions students helped clear our Salanova lettuce beds as we prepare for the next season.

These students join us every Tuesday during spring and fall, working alongside our farm team to shovel and rake woodchips, clear beds, and care for our growing spaces. Some have been coming for years and have become pros around the farm!

Their weekly visits are a valued part of life at Seed to Table Oregon. We’re grateful for all their hard work and the care they bring to the farm, season after season.

A big thank-you to the Sisters High School Life Skills and Transitions students—we’re glad to grow alongside you!

There’s more than one way to experience the bounty of the land.

The Seed to Table farm team recently traded rows of vegetables for a day of mushroom foraging together.

We spend so much of the growing season tending the land and thinking about what it needs from us. A day in the forest offered a chance to experience that relationship from another perspective—to slow down, pay attention, and appreciate the many ways the land nourishes us, far beyond the food we grow.

And, of course, there was another kind of harvest to enjoy.

Any guesses what they found?

Your garden isn’t quite done yet.

What you do now can help extend this year’s harvest—and set your garden up for a healthier growing season next year.

Join Seed to Table Field Manager Vivian Toll this Saturday for a hands-on workshop all about closing out the growing season in Central Oregon.

We’ll explore practical ways to:
🌱 Extend your growing season and harvest later into fall
🍂 Prepare and amend your soil before winter
🌼 Sow wildflowers to support early spring pollinators
🌾 Rest and protect your garden over winter to rebuild soil health

Whether you’re tending a few raised beds or a larger backyard garden, you’ll leave with practical ideas you can put to work at home.
