About Sisters Kiwanis Club:
Kiwanis is an organization for men and women who want to improve their communities through participation in service projects of LOCAL, national and international importance. What does Kiwanis mean? The name “Kiwanis” means “we trade” or “we share our talents” and was coined from an American Indian expression: Nunc Kee-wanis
In our four-decade history, Sisters Kiwanis has been involved in the development and support of many community organizations, including Scouts, Campfire, Little League, organized soccer, Habitat for Humanity, and Sisters Organization for Activities and Recreation to name just a few. In addition, Kiwanis volunteers maintain and staff the community food
bank, which provides emergency food boxes for less fortunate citizens in the area. The Sisters Kiwanis Food Bank is open on Thursdays from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm for clients. Kiwanis also has provided park-type benches throughout the city, and built a playground apparatus at the main city park in Sisters. The organization was a major contributor to the city's new ball field complex. Individual Kiwanis members have had leadership roles in many civic and cultural organizations in Sisters, helping provide continuity in the growth of the community through the Kiwanis motto, “Service to the community with an emphasis on youth."
