About Sisters Kiwanis Club:

Kiwanis is an organization for men and women who want to improve their communities through participation in service projects of LOCAL, national and international importance. What does Kiwanis mean? The name “Kiwanis” means “we trade” or “we share our talents” and was coined from an American Indian expression: Nunc Kee-wanis

In our four-decade history, Sisters Kiwanis has been involved in the development and support of many community organizations, including Scouts, Campfire, Little League, organized soccer, Habitat for Humanity, and Sisters Organization for Activities and Recreation to name just a few. In addition, Kiwanis volunteers maintain and staff the community food
bank, which provides emergency food boxes for less fortunate citizens in the area. The Sisters Kiwanis Food Bank is open on Thursdays from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm for clients. Kiwanis also has provided park-type benches throughout the city, and built a playground apparatus at the main city park in Sisters. The organization was a major contributor to the city's new ball field complex. Individual Kiwanis members have had leadership roles in many civic and cultural organizations in Sisters, helping provide continuity in the growth of the community through the Kiwanis motto, “Service to the community with an emphasis on youth."

Repeating here for folks not following our Race Page:

Dear Hoodoo Challenge Participants,
We’re sorry to share that, after consulting with a wildland fire incident support team, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this weekend’s Hoodoo Challenge 5K and Half Marathon due to wildfire smoke.
Current air quality is in the unhealthy range, and the latest forecasts indicate those conditions are expected to continue through the weekend. While we've been fortunate to enjoy nine years of great race-day weather, this year had other plans.
We sincerely apologize for the disappointment and inconvenience this cancellation may cause. The safety and health of our runners, volunteers, and community will always be our highest priority.
Because the Hoodoo Challenge is a fundraiser for Sisters Kiwanis, we would be deeply grateful if you would consider allowing your registration fee to become a donation. Your support helps us continue our work serving youth in our community.
If you would prefer a credit toward next year's race or a refund, we are happy to accommodate that. We are currently finalizing the process and ask that you email your preference—donation, race credit, or refund—to [email protected].
If you ordered a race shirt or hat, we will contact you separately with details about pickup or delivery.
Thank you for your understanding, your support, and for being part of the Hoodoo Challenge community. We truly appreciate each of you and look forward to welcoming you back next year under clearer skies.
Sincerely,
The Hoodoo Challenge Team
