What does child trafficking prevention accomplish?

In Telangana, India, World’s Children has helped support a program since 2017 that brings together children, families, schools, and local communities to recognize risks and help protect vulnerable children.

In 2025, the program reported some encouraging results:

• 22,358 people reached through child-protection and trafficking-prevention efforts.
• 5,500 children reached through prevention activities.
• 348 children protected through interventions involving child labor, school dropout, and the prevention of child marriages.
• 48 missing children reunited with their families.

Behind these numbers are children learning how to stay safe, families receiving support, and communities working together to protect their youngest members.

Since 2017, World’s Children donors have contributed nearly $100,000 to this important work.

Child trafficking doesn't always begin with kidnapping.

Sometimes a child or family is promised a job, an education, or a better opportunity somewhere else. Instead, the child may end up in a situation where they are exploited or unable to safely leave.

In Telangana, India, World’s Children helps support a prevention program that brings together parents, teachers, village leaders, women's groups, and child-protection representatives.

Through local Community Vigilant Committees, people learn to recognize when a child may be at risk and help connect families with the support they need. The program also works with schools, police, and child-protection agencies when additional help is needed.

When more people understand the risks and know how to respond, children have a stronger network of protection around them.

Next week, we’ll share some of the results of this important work and the difference it’s making for children and families.

Education is an important part of preventing child trafficking.

Through Children’s Clubs in schools and colleges throughout Telangana, India, young people are learning how to recognize situations that could put them or their friends at risk. They talk about child trafficking, child marriage, abuse, unsafe online behavior, child labor, school dropout, and—just as importantly—where to turn when they need help.

In 2025, 60 Children’s Clubs reached 2,250 students.

These clubs are one part of the Prevention of Child Trafficking program World’s Children has helped support in India for nearly a decade.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll continue sharing more about this work, including how families, village leaders, and local organizations are working together to help protect children.

What does it take to help protect a child from trafficking? It starts with EDUCATION.

These girls in Telangana, India, are learning how to recognize unsafe situations and, just as importantly, where to turn if they or someone they know needs help.

For nearly a decade, World’s Children has helped support child trafficking prevention programs in this region. The work reaches beyond children, bringing in families, teachers, community leaders and others who can recognize when a child may be at risk and step in to help.

One of the many ways New Vision cares for its students goes beyond the classroom.

These little ones are waiting for their turn to see the doctor for a health checkup. At New Vision Engikaret in Tanzania, students—and their family members—have access to health care free of charge.

For families in this rural Maasai community, having care available close to home makes an important difference.

Education, nutritious meals, time to play and learn—and care for the whole child. It’s all part of daily life at New Vision.

Kanista knows why she wants to become a nurse. ❤️

Now in her second year of nursing school in India, Kanista says she looks forward to one day “serving others through my profession.” She’s already taking on leadership roles at college and even completed an online course through ISRO, India’s space agency.

Her father works as a college bus driver, but knee pain has made it difficult for him to work regularly. With her brother also in college, education expenses are a stretch for the family.

Kanista is one of just three students still hoping for a sponsor. College sponsorship is $55 a month or $660 for the year.

Meet Jenifer, a first-year nursing student in India who loves caring for others. ❤️

Jenifer enjoys spending time with children, listening to music and being with her family. She hopes to someday work in a hospital, caring for patients and building a career that will also help support her family.

Both of Jenifer’s parents work as daily-wage laborers, and her father’s health limits how much he can work. Nursing school is simply more than her family can afford on their own.

A scholarship of $55/month or $660/year would help Jenifer continue her nursing education.

Our scholarship series continues! This week, meet Meera!

She’s always loved science and biology, especially learning about the human body and how to care for others. She also enjoys yoga and helping younger children with their studies.

Now that she’s finished 12th grade, Meera hopes to begin a four-year paramedical program and build a career in healthcare.

She’s worked hard to get this far. She just needs a little help with the next step.

A scholarship of $55/month or $660/year would help Meera continue her education and get started on a career caring for others. ❤️

We’re continuing to introduce you to some of the bright young students hoping to take the next step in their education. Today, meet Abisha!

Abisha loves learning, especially when she can get hands-on in the laboratory. She has participated in seminars and group discussions and has even received recognition from her university for her sincerity and dedication.

Abisha has already earned her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and hopes to continue on for her Master’s degree. Her father has passed away, and her mother is the family’s sole earner, making the cost of graduate school more than they can manage.

Abisha hopes to build a career in healthcare and research, where she can put her education to work helping others.

Last week, we began introducing you to some of the bright young students who are ready for the next step in their education—and looking for a little help to get there.

Meet Antony! An avid cyclist, Antony loves staying active and even won a prize at school for skating. Now he has a new challenge ahead: college.

Antony lost his father when he was just 10 years old. His mother worked as a cook to support Antony and his sister, but eventually the financial burden became too much, and Antony came to live at Fatima Home.

With the help of sponsorship, Antony completed 12th grade and is now hoping to study Artificial Intelligence at Loyola College of Engineering.

Antony has worked hard to get this far. A college sponsor can help him take the next step and see where all that hard work leads.
