It was a true honor to be highlighted in the Sioux Empire United Way 2027 Campaign Video. We are so thankful for their 4+ years of partnership in funding our Health Care Rides program.

To the United Way, our grant is less than 0.5% of their campaign goal. But to the hundreds of neighbors who depend on Project CAR volunteers for vital medical appointments, this support is life-changing. It ensures that so many people in our community can access care in a way that affirms their dignity and worth.

In 2026 our volunteers will be with over 200 people, providing over 8,000+ rides to health care appointments (a staggering 75% increase since 2022). That's countless moments of human connection and hope.

We aren’t the loudest ministry or nonprofit in Sioux Falls. We don’t make grand spectacles or chase the spotlight. And if you asked our volunteers, most of them would tell you they prefer it that way. As a 20th-century pastor once wrote, "Lighthouses don't fire cannons to draw attention to their shining. They just shine."

At Project CAR, our work happens quietly, behind the scenes.

It’s an unspoken ethos of ours that the most meaningful work doesn't need a loudspeaker; it just needs a neighbor showing up for a neighbor. A reliable presence, a listening ear, and a safe ride to a medical appointment or vital service.

We don't view our work as charity. We view it as mutuality and solidarity. When our neighbors can access the care they need, our entire community grows stronger. It’s about mutual flourishing: the idea that we all do better when we take care of each other.

To every single volunteer driver who quietly gives their time and heart to this mission of togetherness: thank you. You show us every day that small, local, and ordinary acts of kindness are the ones that move the world.

Every ride is a real person with a real story, so every journey matters. 💛

Over the last four years, our health care rides program has nearly doubled, from 4,700 rides in 2022 to over 8,000 this year.

We are so grateful for the foundational grant support from our institutional funding partners. But as community need skyrockets, the annual fixed grants can only reach so far, and they are no match for how fast we're growing and how much good we're doing year over year.

The heart of Project CAR's ability to help so many has ALWAYS been the kindness of individual neighbors like you. When fixed funding reaches its limit, your generosity bridges the gap.

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: Meet Donna!

Donna started driving in 2022 after seeing something about us on the news late one night. She was our 2024 Volunteer of the Year. Donna is a heavy-hitter with Project CAR - she drives nearly every Sunday of the year, providing 15-20 rides each Sunday to riders to connect them with their faith communities. She is a remarkable volunteer!

Donna has provided 618 rides so far this year!

Thank you to all our friends and neighbors who visited Pizza Ranch on August 10th. Together, we raised $650 to support vulnerable and at-risk individuals through our Health Care Rides program. That's 65 rides to people in our community to access medical care, free-of-charge, maintaining their dignity and providing an indispensable human connection.
