This is an important issue for Maryland’s developmental disabilities community.

Providers remain committed to ensuring that individuals with developmental disabilities receive the services and support they need to live safely, independently, and fully in their communities. However, that commitment must be supported by systems that are timely, reliable, and sustainable.

When administrative delays result in months of unpaid services, the impact extends beyond provider organizations. It puts additional strain on the entire system of care and ultimately threatens the stability of the services individuals and families depend on every day.

We encourage our community, partners, and advocates to read this important piece from Maryland Matters and continue the conversation around solutions that protect both the people receiving services and the providers committed to supporting them.

After more than two years of erroneous Medicaid disenrollments, communication challenges and slow responses from state agencies, the nonprofits and companies providing developmental disability services say they are near a financial breaking point.

Recently, we held our Annual Yard Refresh, bringing together board members, staff, and community volunteers to create welcoming outdoor spaces for the individuals we support.

We were also honored to welcome Delegate Julie Palakovich Carr who stopped by to learn more about RCF and the people we serve.
