Ocean City was amazing! Actually Conference was more amazing!!!! We had such a great week at the 2026 Direct Support and Supervision Conference! We definitely enjoyed learning, networking and celebrating the incredible work of DSPs and frontline leaders. Thank you to everyone who shared knowledge, experiences and inspiration during this conference. We are returning with fresh ideas, stronger connections and renewed enthusiasm to continue to make an impact!

On this Memorial Day, we remember the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Their bravery and selflessness continue to inspire us every day. As we spend time with family and friends, let us also take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of today and honor those who are no longer with us. Thank you to all who served and to the families who carry their memories forward. ❤️🤍💙

It is Friday and before you fully check out for the weekend, we need you to do one thing. A quick mental health check in. 💚

How are you feeling? When did you last eat something that was not from a vending machine? Have you had enough sleep? When did you last go outside? And yes, we are asking about the phone too.

If things feel heavy right now, you do not have to carry it into the weekend alone. Save the second slide and reach out. The lines are open, free, and judgment free.

Now go enjoy your Friday. You earned it.

We pulled up to Gaithersburg High School last Wednesday and set up shop. 🎯

The Montgomery County Public Schools Transitioning Youth Fair is one of those events we genuinely look forward to. Students with disabilities and their families come out to figure out what life after school can actually look like, and we get to be part of that conversation. Adult services, vocational support, community resources. We had it all at the table, literally.

If you stopped by the RCF booth, spoke to us and grabbed something, we see you. And if you did not, now you know we exist. Come find us next time. 😄

Last Friday, the incredibly talented came through and had our consumers and staff making handmade candles ahead of Mother’s Day. The vibes were immaculate, the scents were even better, and let’s just say some of our consumers’ moms definitely received the best gifts ever - handmade candles, because they were made with love.

Candy, thank you for pulling up and making it a whole moment. This one was special. Happy Mother’s Day to every mom in our community that we are lucky enough to know and serve. You deserve it. 💐

Meet Travis, Rock Creek Foundation’s Director of Development and Fundraising!

Travis works behind the scenes building partnerships, researching grant opportunities, and connecting with local businesses and foundations to help bring valuable resources to RCF. His goal is simple: to help Rock Creek Foundation continue its important work while creating strong community relationships and increasing visibility throughout the region.

His passion for this work is deeply personal. Growing up right down the street from RCF and having a nephew with autism inspired Travis to advocate for individuals whose brilliance is too often overlooked by society. He believes differences should be celebrated, not labeled as “not normal.”

Outside of work, Travis enjoys spending quality time with his family. Newly married and raising four kids with his wife, he appreciates the simple things in life - nature, fishing, and peaceful moments away from the crowds. A former college basketball player, he jokes that as his athletic days slow down, fishing has officially become his new sport.

And if you’re wondering about his go-to snack? Skip the chocolate and cake - Travis reaches for seaweed snacks, with gummies making an occasional appearance!

We’re grateful to have Travis helping strengthen connections and opportunities for the Rock Creek Foundation community.

We are celebrating Madanyon Dunbar this month, our Program Manager on her 11th year work anniversary. Eleven years of dedication, consistency, and commitment to the people we serve. That kind of tenure does not happen by accident.

Thank you, Madanyon, for everything you bring to this organization every single day.

Last month, we were honored to welcome two extraordinary leaders to the Rock Creek Foundation Board. Their experience, compassion, and commitment to serving others will help strengthen our mission and deepen the impact we make in the communities we serve.

Crystal Hovermale brings nearly a decade of experience in operations, financial oversight, and regulatory compliance expertise that is invaluable as Rock Creek continues to grow and expand services. Crystal is an amazing leader at a nonprofit dedicated to supporting individuals experiencing homelessness throughout the DMV. Her passion for advocacy and community care reflects the heart of our mission, and we are deeply grateful for the perspective and leadership she brings to our board.

We are also proud to welcome Thomas E. Skeeter III, MS, LCPC, NCC, CMT, a Board Certified Mental Health Therapist whose work has impacted families, chronically ill patients, and youth through behavioral health programming and counseling. Thomas brings not only clinical expertise, but also a deep understanding of the importance of accessible, compassionate mental health care. His voice and insight will be instrumental as we continue advancing behavioral health support for those who need it most.

Having leaders like Crystal and Thomas on our board matters because they bring both professional expertise and a genuine commitment to improving lives. Their leadership, insight, and shared passion for service will help guide Rock Creek Foundation into an even stronger future.

We are incredibly thankful to have them join our Board of Directors and look forward to the impact we will make together.

Last week, we took RCF to the streets. 🌳 We had a booth at the Laurel Main Street Festival on May 2nd and it was great to connect with the community, share what we do, and just be present in the neighborhood we serve. If you stopped by and said hello, thank you. We love getting out there.
