Since 1973, the Rock Creek Foundation provides treatment and support for Marylanders with mental illness and developmental disabilities via day programs, group homes, and supported employment.

Juneteenth reminds us of the importance of honoring history, uplifting communities, and creating spaces where everyone can thrive. Juneteenth is also a reminder that liberation delayed is still liberation fought for.

Today we honor that history, the people who lived it, and the generations who carried it forward. At Rock Creek Foundation, we celebrate progress, reflect on our shared history, and continue building a future rooted in dignity, opportunity, and belonging.

Our team had a fantastic time at the 2026 MACS Annual Meeting & Crab Feast, connecting with fellow leaders, advocates, and community partners who are passionate about creating opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month 💜

Alzheimer’s is a disease that does not just take memories. It takes the version of a person that the people around them know. That is a specific kind of grief that does not always have a name.

Over 11 million Americans provide unpaid care for someone with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia. That is 11 million people quietly rearranging their entire lives, often without asking for help or recognition. The disease gets the awareness campaigns. The caregivers mostly get overlooked. If you are a caregiver, a family member, or someone watching someone you love change in ways you cannot stop, this month is for you too. Not just the purple ribbon. You.

So this month, we want to acknowledge both. The people living with Alzheimer’s and the people who show up for them every single day without being asked twice.

Ocean City was amazing! Actually Conference was more amazing!!!! We had such a great week at the 2026 Direct Support and Supervision Conference! We definitely enjoyed learning, networking and celebrating the incredible work of DSPs and frontline leaders. Thank you to everyone who shared knowledge, experiences and inspiration during this conference. We are returning with fresh ideas, stronger connections and renewed enthusiasm to continue to make an impact!

On this Memorial Day, we remember the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Their bravery and selflessness continue to inspire us every day. As we spend time with family and friends, let us also take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of today and honor those who are no longer with us. Thank you to all who served and to the families who carry their memories forward. ❤️🤍💙
