Last night, the T. Howard Foundation community gathered for an extraordinary evening - full of energy, gratitude, purpose, and belief in the next generation.
This morning, we pause with heavy hearts to honor the passing of Ted Turner.
Ted’s connection to the T. Howard Foundation is deeply meaningful. In the Foundation’s earliest days, our founder Scott Weiss had an idea and Ted Turner said yes. Ted greenlit the idea that became this Foundation - giving early legitimacy and momentum to a mission built on opening doors for talented young people from historically underrepresented backgrounds.
That “yes” mattered. It helped turn an idea into a foundation. A foundation into a pipeline. A pipeline into thousands of careers. And those careers into lasting change across media, entertainment, and technology.
On a day when we are still lifted by the power of last night’s dinner, we are reminded that movements begin when people in positions of influence choose to open the door for others.
Today, we remember Ted Turner with gratitude. For believing in the idea, for helping give it life, and for being part of the origin story of the T. Howard Foundation.
Thank you, Ted. Your impact lives on in every door this Foundation continues to open.
