Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.®- Sigma Rho Omega Chapter remains committed to combating period poverty and supporting the health, dignity, and well-being of students in our community. Period poverty refers to the limited or inadequate access to menstrual products and menstrual health education due to financial barriers or the stigma surrounding menstruation. Lack of access to these essential products can result in students missing school and experiencing unnecessary health, emotional, and social challenges.. For the fourth consecutive year, Sigma Rho Omega Chapter is excited to provide feminine hygiene kits to select Caddo Parish schools. This year, we are especially excited to support Turner Elementary/Middle School, Ridgewood Middle School, Broadmoor Stem Academy, and J.S. Clark Elementary School. Through this initiative, we hope to not only help meet a basic need but also raise awareness and help eliminate the stigma associated with period poverty.
