🌿 Join us for a Community Volunteer Day at Northwest Indian College!

Come spend the day with Naa káani Native Program, Agroforestry Northwest, and Northwest Indian College as we work together to care for the land and beautify the campus!

Together, we'll plant around 70 native trees and shrubs, tend garden spaces, and learn about native plants and hedgerows. These plantings are part of a larger effort to improve water quality flowing into Tulalip Bay, support a healthier ecosystem, and create welcoming spaces where students and community members can connect with native plants.

Last weekend, we spent the day with the Native Guild at Beacon Food Forest tending land, learning together, and sharing food. 🌿
We harvested and cared for wapato, learned about the environmental impacts affecting it, and helped prepare the prairie for future fire. We ended the day gathered around a shared meal that included the wapato we had harvested together.
A beautiful day of reconnecting food, land, and community. ❤️

Join us for a hands-on day with the Native Guild, tending wapato and other Native food plants at Beacon Food Forest. Participants will have the opportunity to see the preparation and cooking process and try wapato. Lunch provided!

We had a great time working together on the land at Northwest Indian College’s Tulalip campus! Alongside Agroforestry Northwest, NWIC, and the Tulalip Tribes Youth Council, we removed invasive plants, tended garden beds, worked with willows, limbed trees, and prepared the site for a future traditional food and medicine hedgerow.

A good day of teamwork, plant knowledge, and caring for the land and water! 🌿

During this event, we will be working to revitalize space on the NWIC Tulalip campus for a future food forest by removing invasive species, garden bed work, and more. This effort is all about bringing people together to steward the land and building long-term ecological and cultural resilience. Come learn about land stewarding and plant knowledge all while helping the community!

What to bring: Dress for the weather and wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes! Tools, snacks, and beverages will be provided.
