QuEST has a new Program Director. Welcome, Kate!

Kate Landis is the Program Director of QuEST as well as social justice activist and author of the award-winning memoir Stubborn Grace: Faith, Mental Illness, and Demanding a Blessing. Kate also works with Crux Consulting, providing leadership coaching and organizational management to nonprofits. Kate served as a Unitarian Universalist minister, as well as a hospital and camp chaplain, for nine years and worked with congregations on dismantling cultures of white supremacy, engaging young adults in congregational leadership, and youth empowerment.

Kate lives in Beacon Hill with her husband Jay and ornery black lab, Wally. She loves pilgrimages and has traveled the Camino de Santiago in Spain twice. She hopes to walk the Italian portion of the Villa Francigena this year. Kate is learning Italian and Spanish and working on a second book. She loves to see live music and is frequently the oldest person in the mosh pit.

At University Friends Meeting, 4001 9th Ave NE, Seattle

9:30 am — welcome, coffee and snacks provided
10-noon — outdoor gardening service project (gardening, light landscaping, and clean-up on UFM and QuEST House grounds; bring gardening gloves if you have them, you’re welcome to bring your favorite garden tools to use, too)
12 noon — potluck (bring a dish to share, bring your own utensils and plate if you can)

Hybrid: at University Friends Meeting and online via Zoom

University Friends Meeting (Seattle, Washington) seeks a Program Director for the Quaker Experiential Service & Training (QuEST) program. The Director is responsible for administering and implementing a program that provides Quaker and non-Quaker young adults with year-long positions at local social change and social service organizations, and an intentional, residential community. A first round of screening resumes will be held on May 9, 2022.

QuEST (Quaker Experiential Service and Training) is a service year fellowship in Seattle, Washington, that provides young adults with professional positions at local nonprofits, an intentional residential community as a cohort, and opportunities for training and reflection. Fellows are matched with one of QuEST's partner agencies for full-time year-long service. The six Fellows live together in a shared house in Seattle's University District and they receive room and board, a personal stipend, transportation and health care funds, and student loan support.
