Thank you Governor Bob Ferguson for this proclamation that includes eviction protections for renters in areas impacted by wildfires. This protects renters in impacted areas from evictions for two weeks, prevents their landlords from treating displacement as abandonment through August, and protects their family and friends across the state from evictions for taking in impacted tenants and their pets, also through August.

Today I signed an emergency proclamation that waives and suspends numerous state laws so that help can move quickly to those impacted by wildfires.

These actions will help Washingtonians access aid, documents, health care and housing, and give businesses relief. Details here: https://governor.wa.gov/news/2026/governor-ferguson-issues-emergency-proclamation-suspending-state-laws-help-those-impacted-wildfires

Happy Pride from the Washington Housing Alliance πŸ³οΈβ€βš§οΈπŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ

This weekend, we celebrate, and we fight.

Right now, the Trump administration is moving to gut the Equal Access Rule, the federal protection that guarantees trans and inters*x people can access HUD-funded shelters and housing programs without discrimination or harassment.

If this rollback goes through, providers could demand documentation to "verify" someone's s*x. Shelters could turn people away. Trans and inters*x people fleeing violence, homelessness, or disaster could be left with nowhere to turn, at the exact moment they need help the most.

This is not abstract. These are real people, and everyone deserves a safe place to land.

Comments on the proposed rule close Monday (June 29) at midnight ET. Take 2 minutes this Pride weekend to submit a comment and tell the administration: trans and inters*x people deserve safety, dignity, and a home.

The legislature is out of session. But we're not.

Right now, across Washington β€” from the Yakima Valley to Bellingham, from Spokane to the Olympic Peninsula β€” we're organizing. Building power. Preparing to walk back into Olympia next year with the voices of people most impacted by the housing crisis leading the way.

Because here's what we know: when the federal safety net frays, state policy becomes the front line. And state policy changes when people organize.

We're in the middle of our spring fundraising campaign and we need your support to keep this work going. Every dollar fuels the organizing, the advocacy, and the movement that makes housing justice possible in Washington.

🏠 Help us raise $30,000 by June 26.

We just wrapped up a whirlwind 60-day session that had some real wins for housing justice, including passage of HB 2266 to reduce barriers to building affordable and supportive housing statewide, over $800 million (!) invested for affordable housing during the state's current biennial budget period, and the Millionaires Tax.

Now it's time to celebrate! Join us for this virtual community celebration on April 22 @ 5:30pm to recognize the contributions of some incredible advocates and partners.
